First Dutch Boeing 787 lands at Schiphol

The first landing of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner in the Netherlands took place Thursday afternoon without incident. The plane is the latest addition to the Arke airplane fleet, and will make its first commercial flight to Antalya, Turkey on Sunday, June 8. Days later, the aircraft is expected to make scheduled trips to both Curaçao and Bonaire. The airline described the plane as being, “A revolutionary new aircraft with exceptional comfort and the latest sustainable technologies.” Arke parent company TUI Netherlands purchased the 787 because it is more fuel efficient, quieter, and lighter compared with other aircraft, they said. The company plans on using the new 787 to reduce reliance on their Boeing 767. They will continue to use their Boeing 737-800 models as well.
