Samsom emails apology to PvdA for loss

Labor leader Diederik Samsom emailed an apology to many of the local PvdA groups last week after the city council elections on Wednesday, for the historic losses the party suffered. The email, that was published by RTL Nieuws Thursday, acknowledges the hard work the local groups did. Samsom assures the party he is fired up to work together to restore the confidence in the party. Both Samsom and political leader Hans Spekman have come under fire from their own party members. "Nobody believes them anymore and they are lucky Wilders and the PVV became the center of attention after the elections. We need new people, also in anticipation of the European elections in May," said Co van Schaik, Labor alderman in Terneuzen, Zealand. For now neither Samsom nor Spekman need to fear losing their post, but the Labor leader was instructed by a review committee to take a more prominent role in the coalition with the VVD, Wednesday
