New US ambassador in The Hague confirmed
The United States senate has finally approved the appointment of Timothy Broas as the new American ambassador in The Hague, RTL Nieuws reports.
The Netherlands was without an American ambassador for more than two years. The senate was going to vote on this in February, but was slowed down by the recession.
The new ambassador is a lawyer and moneylender for the Obama campaign. At the end of December last year, Broas posted a video on YouTube in which he promotes himself as ambassador (see video below).
The appointment is just in time for the Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague where president Obama will also be in attendance.
