Runaway dog disrupts Schiphol operations

Flight operations at Schiphol got interrupted for a few hours Wednesday night when a dog boarding a flight ran off onto the runway.

A Schiphol spokesperson said this morning that the dog –a golden retriever- was found around midnight and reunited with his owner. It was not clear what flight they were boarding. The spokesperson said that after the pooch ran off, the Aalsmeerbaan and Kaagbaan runways were closed while ten different security vehicles fanned out over the airport premises to look for him. A police helicopter helped from above. The search was called off at first, but around midnight the dog was still found by an airport staffer. A Schiphol spokeswoman said that after the dog was reunited with its owner -a lady from Norway- they resumed their travels.
