The 41-year-old man was convicted in July by the court in Leeeuwarden to four years in prison for human smuggling activities that took place in Emmen and Amsterdam. He appealed and was granted temporary release by the appellate court. He went underground and proved untraceable.
The OM said he was arrested in Zwolle on Wednesday by the Team Execution Criminal Sentences TES that is tasked with tracking down fugitive convicts. The man still has to serve 1,440 days of his four-year sentence.
