SBS starts new women's channel

Netherlands gets another television channel, which will specifically target women. SBS Broadcasting will launch a fourth channel next year, in addition to the current channels SBS 6, Net 5, and Veronica. Net5 already targets women. A spokesperson for SBS does not want to elaborate on how the group wants to earn money on yet another women's channel, nor do they want to disclose the name. SBS already had plans for a new station, following RTL, but ultimately did not dare to continue. The launch of a completely new channel is extremely difficult in a rather weak advertising market, according to former CEO Van Stade early 2009.
