Oranje almost certainly not group head
The Dutch Soccer team is almost certainly not head of the group for the World Cup next year in Brazil.
Uruguay, the number six of the FIFA rankings, was too strong for Jordan Wednesday with 5-0, in the playoffs to get a ticket for the World Cup.
In about a week the return match will be in Montevideo. Only if Uruguay does not place itself for the World Cup will Oranje, which is eighth in the FIFA rankings, get a spot in pool one at the draw on Friday December 6.
From the start, Wednesday, Uruguay was the better team in Amman. After 22 minutes that was already reflected in the score. Maxi Pereira tapped in the 1-0 from close range, after goalkeeper Al-Amaireh barely deflected a header from Edinson Cavani.
Before the break the team of coach Oscar Tabárez doubled the score. Christian Stuani moved in from the right after a pass from former Ajax player Nicolas Lodeiro.
Shortly after the break the number seventy of the FIFA world ranking list briefly initiated an attack, which resulted in a great chance for Ahmad Hayel. The attacker missed his shot from close range, and Uruguay again took the initiative.
Lodeiro decided the game after 69 minutes: 3-0. Hits from Cristian Rodríguez and Cavani (a beautiful free kick) made the return on Wednesday just a formality.
