Russia Trucks Tomato Throwers To Jail

In Russia, a Moscow district court sentenced to jail two protesters who threw tomatoes at King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. On Monday, the court sentenced 23-year-old Denis Kudryavtsev to 15 days for petty hooliganism and 18-year-old Viktoria Kuznetsova was sentenced to 10 days, France24 reported citing the ITAR-TASS news agency. According to Russian officials, the King and Queen were not struck by the flying fruit. The activists are members of The Other Russia opposition party, which is led by novelist and radical dissident Eduard Limonov. They were expressing outrage at the January death of activist Alexander Dolmatov, who committed suicide after the Netherlands turned down his asylum request and sent him to an airport detention centre.
