Stamp sold for 208,000 euros

A stamp from Kenya-Uganda, from 1925, raised 208,000 euros at an auction in Weesp. This makes it the most expensive stamp ever. The yield is significantly higher than the catalog value of 150,000 euros. The stamp features a portrait of King George V, colonial ruler of East Africa. The stamp is not stamped and intact. There are only four known copies of this quality in the world. According to the Dutch Stamp and Coin auction stamps from the British colonies are becoming more valuable, especially those from before 1940.
