Maxima Queen Regent
In case king Willem-Alexander dies, unexpectedly, before 2021, queen Maxima will become regent of princess Amalia. This is part of a law proposal which was sent to the House and the Senate. The law proposal is meant to have a hassle free continuation of the kingship in case of such a calamity. She would keep the parental authority, but she would be assisted by a team of five. The family will appoint two of them and the other team members will be the vice chairman of the Council of State, the so called ‘underking’, the chairman of the Court of Audits and the president of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands. In the unfortunate case that Maxima would also pass away before 2021, prince Constantijn, the brother of Willem-Alexander, will become regent.
