Speedy trial drug smugglers Schiphol

Cases against drug smugglers who are arrested at Schiphol will be handled through the new speedy trial method, starting September 1st.The Noord Holland court announced Tuesday that, starting mid September, the Judicial Complex Schiphol will prosecute suspects caught with less than three pounds of drugs. Wikimedia commons Oftentimes drug smugglers remain in custody for at least three months before they are tried. A magistrate will now handle the cases within two weeks instead of being referred to a panel of three judges. If the defense demands more research, the case can no longer be decided the speedy trial program.
