More Highly Educated Young Men Jobless

According to Statistics Netherlands, unemployment rate of highly educated young men aged 25 to 35 years old has risen notably after 2009. Alex E. Proimos/flickr Over 6 percent of these young men did not have jobs in 2012. The figure almost doubled among highly educated young women. In 2010, the rate for both men and women aged 25 to 35 was nearly identical. The rate among highly educated young men has then increased more quickly than among women of the same group. Last year, 2 percent of highly educated young men were unemployed compared to 3.6 percent of their female counterparts. From 2010 to 2012, the unemployment rate has considerably risen to over 8 percent among men with degrees in social sciences; however, it dropped slightly among women. Moreover, male unemployment has increased in the last three years in other fields of study while joblessness among law women graduates has added rapidly in the current years.
