Twin gorillas surprised a Netherlands Zoo
A 20-year-old gorilla gave birth to twin gorillas in a zoo in the Netherlands.
Burgerz’ Zoo was surprised when their pregnant gorilla, N’Gayla, gave birth earlier than her expected date of delivery. But what has become of another shock for the keepers is that she delivered twins.
A similar case in Atlanta Zoo: Kuchi and her twins (2006)
melmel80/flickr Wilco Limpers, one of the zookeepers, said while he was looking at the mother gorilla licking her baby, she unexpectedly grabbed something inside the straw bedding. At first, he was unsure of what he saw but he realized it was another newborn gorilla. The delivery of gorilla twins occur only once or twice in a decade in European zoos, he explained. The father of the twins, 23-year-old Bauwi will have a minimal role in caring for the newborns. N’Gayla, meanwhile, is a pro in raising children, with three other children in her care.
