Mollema Up The Cycling Ladder

Bauke Mollema has made a leap in the ranking of the UCI World Tour. The number 2 of the Tour of Switzerland now occupies the 27th position in the global cycling ladder. The leader of the Blanco team drove a superb final time trial today, with the finish line after more than 26 kilometers on the Flumserberg. He finished it 29 seconds behind the Portuguese stage winner Rui Costa. Costa secured the final victory, with the win in the time trial. He took the leader's jersey from Switzerland's Mathias Frank, who lost nearly two minutes on his Portuguese rival. Mollema, who previously won the second stage and was second in the seventh stage, came in the final standings on a thick minute away from Costa. Halfway through the trial, the tough Groninger did some catching up on his competitors. He rode the time trial extremely smart and passed in the ranking not only Frank and Kreuziger but also the Frenchman Thibaut Pinot. Mollema finished the Tour of Switzerland as second in the overall ranking. The Czech Roman Kreuziger ended third.
