Mayor Utrecht Steps Down

Mayor Wolfsen (53) of the city of Utrecht will step down from office on the December 31 this year. He does not want to start a second six-year term. Wolfsen has been the mayor of Utrecht since 2008. Wolfsen was not undisputed as a mayor. Three times a vote of no confidence was submitted against him. One time was in 2009 when he ordered a newspaper to destroy a complete edition because they wanted to publish a critical article about him. According to NOS.nl the mayor does not have any new plans for his career. He wants to spend more time with family and friends and will not be available for the labor market.
