Jasper S. Confesses Vaatstra Murder Again
Jasper S. confessed to the murder of Marianne Vaatstra for the second time during the trial that started on Thursday morning in Leeuwarden.
The farmer from Oudwoude, a small village in Friesland, already admitted shortly after his arrest that he forced Vaatstra to have sex with him under threat of his pocket knife and that he cut her throat after that. S. attested that he did not know what he was doing at the time, but doctors declared him sane.
S. was only arrested in November 2012 after he voluntarily participated in the Netherlands’ first DNA-kinship research for solving crimes.
The body of the 16-year-old Marianne Vaatstra was found thirteen years ago in a meadow in Veenklooster, a village close to Oudwoude. Marianne went to a club in Kollum to celebrate Queen's Day and was cycling home when S. saw her.
Nu.nl reports that two additional rooms are connected to the courtroom via video to accommodate the large number of interested parties.
