Police investigate body found in Amsterdam garage

Emergency services found the body of a man in a garage on Nieuwevaartweg in Amsterdam-Oost just after midnight on Sunday. So far nothing is known about the cause of the man's death or his identity, the police said in a statement.

Officers found also found a man and woman in the building who were both ill. They were rushed to the hospital. Another two men were found in the building. Both were arrested for questioning.

The fire department made numerous measurements and did several tests and concluded that carbon monoxide poisoning is not behind the death.

Given the circumstances and unknown cause of the man's death, the police launched a criminal investigation.
