A total of four people were killed in a number of serious traffic accidents in the Netherlands on Monday morning. Three people were killed along the A6 towards Muiden when their car ended up in the water. And a cyclist was killed in Breda when she was hit by a truck. A toddler in a trailer on the bicycle survived unharmed.
A 14-year-old boy from Helmond was killed when he was hit by a jet-ski on the Maas river near Well on Saturday afternoon. A 26-year-old man from Zaltbommel was arrested and was still in custody by Sunday evening, the police said in a statement.
The boy disappeared under water around 5:00 p.m. Bystanders report seeing the boy jumping from a boat and then being hit by a jet-ski.
A tired cyclist in Boekel came up with the brilliant solution to make the rest of his way home on a stolen tractor. His plan did not work out that great for him - the police caught him a short time later, with his bicycle tied onto the stolen tractor.
This all happened during the early hours of Friday morning, according to the Boekel police on Facebook. "The result is that the man with this 'genius' idea spent the night with us", the police wrote.
The tractor was returned to its owner.
First aid posts in Hoek van Holland worked overtime on Thursday, the first day of the 'beach season' in the Netherlands. About 200 people needed treatment after the combination of sun, hot weather, alcohol and drugs became too much for them, the local safety office said on Thursday night, ANP reports.
Six people had to be taken to hospital for further treatment.
A father and son were arrested in Dordrecht on Thursday after they assaulted an ambulance driver, the Dordrecht police said on Facebook. According to the police, the men did not agree with the paramedics wanting to take a woman to the hospital.
The ambulance responded to Rigelhof in Sterrenburg to help a woman. The paramedics determined that she had to go to the hospital, against the will of her husband and son. After the woman was loaded into the ambulance, and the ambulance was about to leave, the father and son attacked the driver.

In December the suspects drove onto a Schiphol business area with a truck. They loaded the truck with 46 pallets of Apple phones and tablets before taking off. The stolen products were worth about 7 million euros.
Shortly after the theft, some of the stolen goods were listed for sale on line. Some were also found in a warehouse in Delft.
The police arrested a Limburg bailiff on Monday for telling women that if they have sex with him, he would wipe out their debts. A total of 11 women pressed charges against the man, AD reports.

A police officer was nearly strangled by a group of intoxicated party-goers in Zutphen during the early hours of Sunday morning. A 22-year-old man from Bronkhorst was arrested for attempted murder, the Zutphen police said in a statement on Facebook.
The police responded to Schupstoel around 3:30 a.m. after reports of a fight. A 24-year-old man tried to run away from the police. Officers caught up to him on Zaadmarkt and arrested him. The man resisted and some friends came to help him.

The police shot a seemingly disturbed man in the leg while arresting him in Capelle aan den IJssel on Tuesday night. The man was standing naked on a flat balcony on Reviusrondeel, shouting and throwing beer cans and other items to the ground, the police said in a statement.
Officers responded to Reviusrondeel around 10:00 p.m. after receiving reports of the naked man. At the scene the officers soon realized that the man could not be reasoned with. Trying to speak with him only resulted in the man pelting the police with beer cans and other items.
Panic broke out when a man pulled a gun on a terrace full of people in Zeist on Tuesday night. He tried to shoot someone, but his gun wouldn't work, witnesses told RTV Utrecht.
The incident happened at the terrace of café De Reünie terrace on Slotlaan in Zeist around 9:45 p.m. The police closed down and evacuated the terrace and surrounding buildings. Officers in bulletproof vests investigated and spoke to witnesses, according to NOS.
One person was arrested. His involvement in the incident is unclear.
A total of 76 people were arrested in Rotterdam after Feyenoord beat Heracles Almelo 3-1 on Sunday and thereby became the national champions for the first time in 18 years. A 34-year-old man from Groningen was arrested at a doctor's office in the city after he attacked and injured a doctor and one of his colleagues, the police said in a statement.
The man was at the doctor's office for treatment. While the doctor was speaking to him, he became angry. The doctor tried to calm him down, but to no avail. The man attacked the doctor, beating and kicking him. It took several colleagues to drag the man off the doctor, during which one of the colleagues was injured. The man also cause considerable damage in the doctor's office.
The Amsterdam police arrested a 25-year-old from Amsterdam on Tuesday on suspicion of involvement in an attempted assassination in Slotervaart earlier this month. The suspect was arrested by a SWAT team on Comeniusstraat around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He is the third suspect to be arrested in this case, NU.nl reports.
The municipality of Rotterdam decided to ban shops in the city center from selling alcohol on Sunday, when Feyenoord is playing against Heracles for the Dutch title. On Wednesday the police published photos of 12 men suspected of violence during riots in Rotterdam this past Sunday after Feyenoord lost against Excelsior. So far three suspects turned themselves in, according to the Telegraaf.
All 12 men are suspected of public violence. The photos of those who turned themselves in have since been removed from the police site.
A drug lab for producing Captagon pills was discovered in a raid in Brunssum, Limburg. Captagon contains amphetamine and caffeine and is a popular drug among combatant groups in the Middle East, where it is used as an 'upper' to keep fighters awake and alert, according to the Telegraaf.
The police arrested four people and seized 1 million euros in cash in an investigation into providers of smartphones that encrypt communication data. Investigators believe the suspects sold these encrypted phones to criminals, RTL Nieuws reports.
The encryption makes it harder for the authorities to listen in on conversations or read text messages from a distance. This trait makes encrypted phones extremely popular among criminals who want to hide their communication from the police.
The 57-year-old man who held two people hostage for several hours in Arnhem last week, has a deep resentment towards the government, the Public Prosecutor announced based on the initial results of the investigation against him. Why he is angry at the government was not revealed, ANP reports.
A 33-year-old man was arrested in Oosterhout on Monday afternoon after he kidnapped a baby in Breda. The baby was found safe and unharmed, still in the man's possession. Paramedics took care of the baby while the seemingly disturbed man was arrested, AD reports.
The man has some kind of connection with the child, though the police would not confirm the relationship due to privacy concerns. The police did say that the man had an appointment with aid workers and a woman at aid organization Veilig Thuis and that he took the baby from there.
A total of 14 people were arrested during protests by anti-Islam organization Pegida and a number of groups that oppose them, including the anti-fascism action group AFA, in Tilburg on Sunday. The people arrested were with the groups protesting against Pegida, the police said to NU.nl.
