A 50-year-old jeweler from Astelveen is suspected of staging a robbery at his jewelry store so that he could submit an insurance claim. The items claimed stolen from his jewelry store were insured for several million euros, ANP reports.

The jeweler was arrested last week on suspicion of fraud. He will stay in custody for at least the next two weeks, the court in Amsterdam ruled on Monday.

Multiple police officers and police dogs arrested 20 people for a massive brawl at a gas station in Ypenurg, The Hague over the weekend, AD reports.

The fight started when people on a party bus started quarreling with a man filling his car with gas. The quarrel escalated into a brawl. The fight moved into the gas station's store, causing quite a bit of damage. An unidentified man in a red coat got involved briefly, but ran away to avoid being beaten up. 

The police arrested 20 brawlers. Investigators are looking fo the man in the red coat and other witnesses.

A huge smoke bomb set off among the audience of the PSV vs Ajax Eredivisie match at the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven on Sunday, left 15 people injured. The first aid team had to treat 10 supporters, four security guards and a steward for respiratory problems and burning eyes, ANP reports.

One man was seriously injured in a stabbing at a wedding in Westervoort, Gelderland on Sunday night. Two people were arrested, Omroep Gelderland reports.

The stabbing happened just after 8:00 p.m. at the Maksim party center on Dorpstraat. The police believe a family fight is behind the incident. According to the broadcaster, the perpetrator is an "older man". It is unclear why the second person was arrested. The stabbed man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The wedding celebration resumed after the incident.

Two fans and a police officer were injured around the Europa League quarter final match between Ajax and Schalke 04 at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on Thursday, the German police said in a statement. There were also 129 arrests and charges filed against 49 people.

The police did not say whether the injured fans were Dutch or German.

A woman was stabbed in a home on Van der Nootstraat in Oss on Wednesday. The extent of the victim's injuries is unclear, but she was hospitalized. Her son was arrested, the Oost-Brabant police said on Twitter. 

"What exactly happened in the house is currently not clear, we are busy with the investigation", a police spokesperson said to Omroep Brabant. He added that the victim's condition is not life-threatening.

The son is in custody for further investigation.

A 53-year-old Dutch man was arrested in Siem Reap, Cambodia on Tuesday for paying at least 19 underage boys for nude photos. Over 1,300 photos of naked boys were found on the man's camera, NU.nl reports

All the victims are under the age of 15 years. The Cambodian police spoke with the 19 known victims and determined that the man paid them a few dollars to undress so that he could take photos. The police believe that there may be more victims.

The tax authorities investigative department FIOD arrested two persons in charge of a well known sushi chain in Rotterdam on Tuesday on suspicion of large-scale fraud, AD reports.

A criminal investigation was launched into the duo after a tax audit at one of the sushi restaurants revealed that data was deleted from the point-of-sale system. The tax authorities believe that this was done to skim revenue.

Skimming revenue in order to evade taxes is considered fraud. According to FIOD it distorts competition and harms tax payers.

The police arrested a 49-year-old man on the A7 between Drachten and Groningen on Tuesday afternoon for playing his saxophone behind the wheel. The man had the saxophone lying on the steering wheel. He wasn't blowing into it, but was playing the valves with his fingers, the police said, according to NU.nl.

Police officers noticed the man because of his driving behavior - he was driving at less than 90 kilometers per hour, close behind a truck and was not driving in a "flowing line", according to the police. The police therefore decided to pull him over.

The Dutch food and consumer product safety authority NVWA and Customs arrested a Chinese couple on Easter Monday for trying to smuggle 72 kilograms of live eels through Schiphol to China, the NVWA announced. The European eels were found in 36 plastic bags that were filled with water and hidden in six regular suitcases. 

According to the NVWA, the eels have a street value of around 115 thousand euros in China. An official report was filed against the Chinese couple and they will have to appear in court in July.

The police recently arrested a man on suspicion of complicity in the murder of Amsterdam career criminal in Diemen in May last year. The suspect is 27-year-old Gideon G. from Haarlem, was revealed in the Amsterdam court on Wednesday, NU.nl reports.

The police arrested four men on suspicion of "grooming" - preparing an underage child to have sex with you. The arrests were made based on videos a group of Apeldoorn teenagers posted on YouTube, in which they filmed the men arranging to have sex with a 15-year-old boy, AD reports.

A suspect in an assault on two gay men in front of a dance school on Chassestraat in Amsterdam West in January turned himself in to the police after pictures of him were spread through the local broadcasters, Het Parool reports.

The two gay men, aged 35 and 37 years old, were cycling to the dance school on January 23rd. On Chassestraat a pedestrian shouted insults and slurs about their sexual orientation at them. When the men stopped at the dance school, the pedestrian approached them and started a fight.

The Dutch police arrested a 28-year-old Dutch-Moroccan in Utrecht last week in connection with 17 ATM bombings committed in Germany. The man was arrested based on a European arrest warrant. An accomplice is still on the run, NOS reports.

It is believed that this man is part of the so-called - a gang of mostly Dutch criminals who commit ATM bombings across the border in Germany and speed away in fast stolen cars, mostly Audis.

A 31-year-old man from was arrested on Saturday in Alkmaar after leaving his 3-year-old daughter in a sweltering hot car for about two hours, according to a police report. The Uitgeest man and his wife went shopping in the center of Alkmaar and left their child in the locked car, where temperatures rapidly started to climb.

Bystanders called the police when they noticed the upset toddler in the vehicle parked on Gedempte Nieuwsloot. The police managed to track down the owner of the car, convincing him to return to the vehicle and free the his daughter.

Four underage boys were arrested in Groningen on Sunday just before two demonstrations in the city - one by anti-Islam movement Pegida and a counter protest by Groningen Tolerant. According to the police, they boys were arrested for being in the possession of fireworks and brass knuckles and not being able to identify themselves, GIC reports.

A few hours after the protests, the police said that the arrested boys seemed to have no connection to the Pegida demonstration.

An as yet unidentified woman was killed in a stabbing on Fazantenlaan in Hellevoetsluis on Sunday night. A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of involvement. The police also seized a knife, AD reports.

The stabbing happened around 10:30 p.m. at a youth center on Fazantenlaan. The victim's identity is not yet known. Emergency services tried to resuscitate the woman, but it was to no avail. She died at the scene. 

The police are investigating the circumstances around the stabbing.

Train traffic around Schiphol was halted for a short time on Thursday night while the Koninklijke Marechaussee arrested a woman who "uttered threats to train staff", RTL Nieuws reports. Train traffic took hours to get back on track.

According to the Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for airport and border security, the woman threatened the train staff. There are also reports that she had a knife. What exactly happened is unclear.

The police arrested five people in a operation against drug trafficking in and around the Grolsch Veste stadium in Enschede during an Eredivisie match between FC Twente and PSV on Thursday night, NU.nl reports.

Three people were arrested in the supporters' home at Block P - the block for fanatical FC Twente supporters - and two were arrested outside the stadium. Drugs were found in the supporters' home, a spokesperson for the police said to NU.nl. The police also searched three homes and found several fake weapons.

With the arrest of a 58-year-old man from Rotterdam the police believe they made their first breakthrough in a cold case investigation into the murders of 85 prostitutes in the 80's and 90's. According to the police, the suspect can definitely be linked to two murders, and possibly to three others as well, AD reports.

A 30-year-old Russian wanted in Belgium for murder was caught at Schiphol airport. The Koninklijke Marechaussee arrested him on Wednesday, AD reports.

The Russian man was caught while sitting in a car outside the airport. The Koninklijke Marechaussee - a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for airport security - decided to check the man because they found it suspicious that he was lingering outside of the airport for so long.

The Rotterdam police arrested a group of criminals suspected of being responsible for a series of street shootings in Rotterdam-Zuid between September and December last year. A total of 13 people were arrested, the four most recent ones last week, the police announced in a statement.

Several people were injured in the shootings, but there were no fatalities.
