Eight people hurt in Schagen youth institution fire

Eight people were injured in a fire at an instituion for young people with intellectual disabilities in Schagen during the early hours of Wednesday morning. They were all treaed for smoke inhalation, four of them were hospitalized AD reports.

The fire started around 1:20 a.m. in complex Schar in Schagen. Firefigters responded en masse. An hour later the entire complex was evacuated, with residents taking shelter in a back building. By 2:30 a.m. the fire was under control.

The cause of the fire is unclear.
