Suspect arrested in Amsterdam coffeeshop shooting
The police arrested a 23-year-old man in Amsterdam on Monday on suspicion of involvemet in a shooting at coffeeshop DNA on Achillesstraat in Zuid. Narcotics and cash were confiscated in the arrest, Het Parool reports.
This is the first arrest the police made in a series of shootings at coffeeshops in Amsterdam over the past year or so. The latest shooting happened at the Greenhouse Kitchen restaurant on Haarlemmerstraat. The restaurant is located next to The Greenhouse coffeeshop, and while you can't buy soft drugs at the restaurant, you are allowed to use it there. Like in all previous coffeeshop shootings, the restaurant was closed down immediately and indefinitely.
Coffeeshop DNA was targeted in shootings on September 7th and in May. At least six shots were fired through the shutters. The business was closed at the time of both shootngs and no one was injured.
