Suspect arrested for Amsterdam criminal's assassination
A 22-year-old Amsterdam man was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of involvement in the assassination of criminal Chahid Yakhlaf in Kerdriel on December 31st, 2015, NU.nl reports.
Yakhlaf, 27, was gunned down while sitting in his car with two others on the camp ground where he was staying. The other two people in the car, one of which is Yakhlaf's brother, were only slightly injured.
The police will be releasing images and footage of the assassination on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday evening, in the hopes that members of the public may recognize the two gunmen that can be seen in it.
Surveillance footage of the camp grounds show two men hanging around the parking lot for some time before the assassination. Around 6:15 p.m. the victim came driving out with two passengers. Two men opened fire with automatic weapons. The car drives off in the direction of Hoenzadriel, where the victims knocked on a door and called the emergency services. Yakhlaf died in hospital a short time later.
The gunmen's getaway car was found burning in Zaltbommel a short time later.
