Fire destroys boat on Amsterdam's Weespertrekvaart

A fire broke out on two boats Saturday night on the Weespertrekvaart in Amsterdam, with one vessel completely destroyed, authorities said.

The fire started on a boat docked in a small harbor along the Weesperzijde. According to the fire department spokesperson, the blaze quickly spread to a second boat, which became loose and drifted away, complicating firefighting efforts.

Firefighters managed to secure the drifting boat with a rope and pull it back to shore, where they extinguished the flames. The vessel’s roof collapsed during the fire, and it will be removed from the water for further assessment.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
