Dutch girl, 16, breaks both legs in Barcelona attack

A 16-year-old girl from Ommen broke both her legs in a terrorist attack in Barcelona on Thursday afternoon. A van crashed into a crowd of people on the Rambla, killing 13 people and injuring over 100, including three Dutch. The other two Dutch victims are also from Ommen, RTV Oost reports.

The victims in the Barcelona attack come from 24 different countries. According to the broadcaster, the Dutch girl was on holiday with another family. They are four in total, three of whom were injured.

The girl's uncle told RTV Oost thad she is doing well under the circumstances. "She broke both her legs, but it seems she will make a full recovery", he said. He could not say how the other two Dutch were doing. All three are in hospital.

Matthijs van Bonzel, the Dutch ambassador to Spain, will visit the Dutch victims on Friday.

A second attack in Cambrils early on Friday morning left seven people injured. As far as is known, none of these victims were Dutch.

PVV leader Geert Wilders called for the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, to return early from summer recess so that the terrorist attacks can be debated.
