Crime writer killed in sex club shooting: Report

One person was fatally wounded in a shooting at a sex club in Laren, Noord-Holland, according to the AD. The victim, believed to be convicted killer-turned-crime blogger Martin Kok, died after shots rang out at the Boccaccio club on Hector Treublaan just after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Kok was in his 80-year-old father's car at the time of the shooting, according to Het Parool. Investigators were still looking for those involved in the shooting as of 8 a.m. on Friday, the AD said.

Shooters targeted Kok’s Amsterdam Osdorp home and his car in an incident about a year ago. At the time, Kok said he thought it was retaliation for photos he published of Dutch underworld leader Willem Holleeder eating dinner in Amsterdam Zuid with known criminal figures.

Holleeder is currently on trial in connection with multiple assassinations.

A bomb was also found under Kok’s car over the summer.

Kok himself was sent to prison for two murders, for which he spent years in prison. He launched his website, Vlinderscrime.nl, after his release.
