Doctors at Bronovo Hospital in Den Haag discharged Queen Máxima after keeping her for treatment and observation over a three-day period, the government’s media office revealed on Saturday. Police in Rotterdam arrested five men after a search of a residence on Tuesday turned up a Kalashnikov rifle and a heavy-caliber handgun. Two police detectives accused of drawing their weapons and opening fire on two cars in Schiedam were sent to prison for 18 months each, according to newswire ANP. The two were accused of attempted manslaughter, filing a false report and perjury following the March 26, 2013 incident.
An organization that governs 32 public elementary schools in Utrecht says that Sinterklaas celebrations in the schools will no longer include the maligned blackface character Zwarte Piet.
