A controversial set of regulations which sought to tighten working hours for au pairs will be thrown out, after Minister of Social Affairs Lodewijk Asscher (PvdA/Labour) and State Secretary for Justice Fred Teeven (VVD) withdrew their support. The measures which restrict working hours received widespread criticism, leading government to refocus efforts on enforcing existing regulations.

Disgraced, dismissed, and discredited, 50Plus parliamentarian and Friends of Gay Krant Founder Henk Krol has again come under fire after it emerged on Monday that he artificially inflated circulation figures of his magazine Gay Krant, which was placed into bankruptcy in March 2013. According to Gay Krant shareholder Marc Putman, Krol continually told advertisers that the Gay Krant had a circulation of around 60,000 subscribers.

Respondents said that the PvdA’s inability to fulfill their promises, and the party's continued lack of action led them to regret casting their vote.

In a surprise decision by the Concil of Ministers, the Netherlands has committed military personnel to the international fight against Islamic State (ISIS). In a press conference early Wednesday evening, Deputy Prime Minister Lodewijk Asscher and Defence Minister Jeanine Hennis announced that the Netherlands will deploy six F-16s for air strikes only in Iraq, another two F-16s to be used as backups, in addition to sending a military defence team of 250 soldiers. The Netherlands will not take part in military missions in Syria.

Amsterdam is investing in education and poverty as agreed by coalition parties D66, VVD and SP. 

This is evident from the budget for 2015 that was presented by alderman Udo Kock (D66).

€32 million extra is available for Amsterdam schools and an extra €20 million for the fight against poverty. The waste levy decreases with 15 million euro.

A 41-year-old man was arrested in Breda for sending threatening emails to a member of parliament. The man has reportedly been sending emails with death threats to the children of parliament members of the VVD and PvdA since October last year, De Telegraaf reported.
