On Wednesday the court in Utrecht banned motorcycle gang in the Netherlands. The judge ruled that the club constitutes a threat to public order and that justifies a civil law ban. The club will be disbanded, ANP reports.

An 81-year-old woman was hit by a stray bullet while sleeping in her bed on Japuradreef in the Utrecht neighborhood of Overvecht just after midnight on Monday. The bullet was fired "probably with automatic firearms" in a s, one of them seriously, the police said in a statement on Monday.

Two men were injured in a shooting in Utrecht just after midnight on Monday. Both victims were taken to hospital. One of them has "serious injuries", the Utrecht police said on Twitter. The perpetrator is still at large.

The shooting happened around 00:20 a.m. n Sabadreef. Multiple shots were fired. The perpetrator fled in a car. The police are investigating what happened and speaking to witnesses. According to newspaper AD, at least 28 bullet casings were found after the shooting.

A majority in the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, voted for allowing municipalities to ban scooters from bicycle paths. Amsterdam already has a detailed plan ready for such a ban, and expects to be able to implement it, in combination with an obligation to wear a helmet on the road, by the middle of next year, the Volkskrant reports.

After more than 75 years the daughter and the granddaughter of a lost Soviet soldier have discovered that he is buried in Leusden, Utrecht. The Second World War soldier, Aleksej Andrejevitsj Andrejev, was found in the Russisch Ereveld, where 865 war victims from the former Soviet Union are buried, the foundation in charge of the Russisch Ereveld announced.

The municipality of Utrecht discovered an unlicensed shopping mall in a parking garage in Utrecht Overvecht on Wednesday, the municipality said in a statement. 77 storage units in the garage were being used for business purposes. The municipality found six sisha lounges, several garage companies, multiple goods repair shops, a gym and a hair salon.

The Dutch police is preparing to test an app that will show officers if a certain car was previously pulled over by another officer, and whether anything was found during that check. This is one of the measures the police want to implement to prevent ethnic profiling and people with an immigration background being pulled over more often, NOS reports.

All train traffic to and from both Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Centraal was halted Monday evening as snow continuously fell upon the region beginning just after noon. Hundreds of passengers were stranded at the airport, according to local broadcaster AT5. Large lines formed at the taxi rank there, while wait times for Uber vehicles was in the double digits.

The airport was setting up cots for people forced to sleep at the airport, broadcaster NOS reported.

Primary schools in the Dutch countryside achieve better results on their final tests than those in the city areas, according to RTL Nieuws' annual school study. The 890 primary schools in the Netherlands' most urban areas scored an average of 6.93. The 1,511 primary schools in the least urban areas scored an average of 7.05.

As the investigation into s murder continues, the police are getting an increasingly clear picture of what happened to the 25-year-old Utrecht woman in the time between when she left home to go cycling on September 29th and when her body was found on October 12th. Murder suspect Michael P. told the police that he crossed paths with Anne when he crashed into her with his scooter, according to the Telegraaf.

A primary school in the Utrecht district of Zuilen called the police after a group of activists protesting for the preservation of Zwarte Piet in his traditional blackface appearance, stormed into the school on Thursday, ANP reports.

Around 10 protesters dressed up as Zwarte Piet charged into the primary school De Cirkel's schoolyard and classrooms and started handing out perpernoten and stickers shortly before the end of the school day.

A 14-year-old boy was convicted and sentenced to one year in a youth detention facility for his role in the death of Romy Nieuwburg, a girl his age from Hoevelaken. The teen boy was also ordered to spend mandatory time in a psychiatric facility, which can be extended to a maximum of seven years.

The sentence is the harshest available for the conviction of a suspect under 16 years of age. It is equivalent to what the prosecutor in the case sought against the Lunteren boy.

A significant number of families with young children are moving away from the large Dutch cities, Statistics Netherlands reported on Tuesday. Of the couples who had their first child in 2012 in one of the municipalities outside the four large cities, 14 percent moved to another municipality within four year. In the large cities, that percentage is two to three times as high.

As the Netherlands' Sinterklaas celebrations approaches, municipalities are starting to reveal their plans on how they're dealing with controversial character Zwarte Piet. Most of the municipalities are sticking to blackface or dark brown makeup, according to AD's Piet Atlas. Amsterdam and The Hague will have no blackface Piets, with Amsterdam also designing a completely new costume. Utrecht plans mostly Chimney Piets - with faces covered in soot marks - and a few traditional blackface Piets. Rotterdam is keeping its plans secret until the day before the celebration.

These air guards' job will be to make sure their municipalities take steps to improve air quality in their region, the Volkskrant reports.

The police arrested two women and two men in connection with the death of an 58-year-old woman in Overvecht, Utrecht. The woman was found murdered in her home in Overvecht on October 26th. The suspects are the woman's two daughters and their husbands, AD reports.

Investigators quickly determined that the victim did not die a natural death. How exactly she died was not revealed, as the investigation is ongoing. The woman's daughters and sons-in-law came up in the investigation as the last people to see the victim.

The group of perpetrators suspected of on 31 December 2015, planned another attack a month before Yahklaf's murder. The Public Prosecutor is accusing two of the suspected perpetrators, 38-year-old Don M. and 43-year-old Frans H., of a failed assassination that was planned to happen in Utrecht, Het Parool reports.
