On Tuesday the Belgian police launched an investigation into the site, RTL Nieuws reports.

Amsterdam already has a detailed plan ready for such a ban, and expects to be able to implement it, in combination with an obligation to wear a helmet on the road, by the middle of next year, the Volkskrant reports.

Forum voor Democratie parliamentarian Theo Hiddema raised eyebrows in the lower house of Dutch parliament on Thursday when he used the Dutch word 'neger', which roughly translates to 'negro', during a debate on the Ministry of Justice and Security, the Telegraaf reports.

According to Hiddema, the "proud, high-spirited negro" does not benefit at all from a law against insulting a group of people. He thinks a ban on inciting violence is all that's needed.

The D66 objected and insisted that Hiddema stops using the slur.

Dutch politicians want to intensify the fight against texting while driving. The VVD wants the police to always check a smartphone's history after a traffic accident, to see if it was being used during the accident, parliamentarian Remco Dijkstra said to the Telegraaf.

According to the VVD parliamentarian, the police can already check smartphones to see whether a driver had both hands on the wheel, but they rarely do so. The VVD also wants stricter punishments for smartphone use while driving. The party calls for the punishment for this to be the same as for drunk driving.

A marathon debate akin to the American style filibuster is starting in the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, on Tuesday. Parliamentarians asked for over 36 hours of talk time to debate the abolition of the so-called Hillen law - a law that gives tax credit to mortgages that have been repaid or almost repaid. The idea behind this marathon debate is to stall the abolition of this law, RTL Nieuws reports.

The PVV requested 1,200 minutes of speaking time, 50Plus wants 900 minutes. Other parties requested no more than 30 minutes.
