Around 175 Dutch children are currently in the former ISIS area in Syria and Iraq, according to the latest figures from general intelligence and security agency AIVD. That is much higher than the around 80 Dutch kids reported to be in the terrorist conflict area last year.

"We are busy collecting information every day. Our image is become increasingly complete and it is the completing of that image that leads to the number of 175", AIVD director Rob Bertholee said to broadcaster BNR.

Around 30 asylum seekers came to the Netherlands with a stolen, blank passport in 2015 and 2016, NRC reports based on figures from the Ministry of Justice and Security.

According to the security services, terrorist organizations like ISIS often give such passports to their fighters to carry out attacks abroad. The police and security service AIVD investigated each of the 30 asylum seekers who arrived in the Netherlands with a blank passport, and none of them were identified as a threat to security, according to the newspaper.

Suspected Dutch jihadist Victor D. is still in Syria, he confirmed in a voice message to newspaper AD sent via Facebook messenger.

"The internet is not very fast here. I am indeed still in Syria. Everything is fine. But I think I... eh... I want some rest right now. And especially for my parents, It does not really matter to me. Especially for my parents that they do not go through everything again", he said in Dutch in the recorded message sent to the newspaper.

Terrorist organization Islamic State trained three women, one Dutch and two Belgian, to commit terrorist attacks in Europe, a Belgian ISIS member arrested in Syria revealed during questioning, Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws reports. The newspaper was given exclusive access to the transcripts of the Belgian jihadist's questioning by American soldiers.

The Dutch authorities asked Turkey to extradite suspected Dutch jihadist Xaviera S. to the Netherlands. She was one of 14 on Tuesday. 

Wim de Bruin of the Public Prosecution service confirmed the extradition request to newspaper AD. According to him, the Dutch authorities want to prosecute all Dutch suspected of participating in a terrorist organizations in the  Netherlands.

The Turkish police arrested a 24-year-old woman from Apeldoorn in the southeastern province of Sanliurfa. She is suspected of being a jihadist and a member of terrorist organization Islamic State. An Algerian who lives in the Netherlands was also arrested, NOS reports.

The question of whether or not to bring the children of Dutch rebel fighters in the Syrian civil war back to the Netherlands, has the government parties divided. Doing so was proposed by the D66 and ChristenUnie, but the VVD is vehemently against it. What fourth government party, the CDA, thinks about this, is not yet clear, NOS reports.

"Before you know it, the parents will come too", VVD parliamentarian Barbara Visser said on Twitter. "The VVD chooses for the safety and freedom of the children in the Netherlands!"

A Syrian man accused of being a member of ISIS by Syrian activists after being in Amsterdam last month, denies having anything to do with the terrorist organization. Speaking to Nieuwsuur and the Volkskrant, the man said that he never fought in the Syrian civil war, let alone that he was a member of ISIS.

Dutch jihadist is on his way back to the Netherlands, The Hague city councilor Arnoud van Doorn said to newspaper AD. The Dutch man plans to report to the Turkish army in the border region of Idlib in Syria, armed with a letter in which he distances himself from terrorist organization ISIS and asks the Turkish forces to help him return to the Netherlands.

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs temporarily halted the Netherlands' support for an aid project in Syria due to concerns that some of the money ended up with extremist groups. Since 2014 the Netherlands contributed 12.6 million euros to the Access to Justice and Community Security Project, which includes the Free Syrian Police, AD reports.

A Syrian man who fought for terrorist organization ISIS is living in the Netherlands with false papers, the Volkskrant reports. He was at a meeting in De Balie in Amsterdam in September, where activists of civilian collective Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently recognized him.

Dutch jihad suspect (21) was sentenced to two years in prison by a Rotterdam court on Monday, of which thirteen months may be served out on probation. Since she has already spent one year in remand, she will not have to return to prison. The punishment is lower than what the Public Prosecutor had originally demanded.

A third of all European foreign rebel fighters in the Syrian Civil War have now returned to their country of birth, according to American think tank Soufan Center. Around 50 jihadists returned to the Netherlands, RTL Nieuws reports.

According to Soufan Center, the returning fighters pose a great danger to the society return to. They don't have a great chance of leading a normal life and stay sensitive to calls from former combatants.

A total of 4,400 people applied for asylum in the Netherlands in the third quarter of this year, and 2,300 people joined family members that already have residency in the country, Statistics Netherlands reports. This is the first time since the third quarter of 2016 that the number of new asylum requests is higher than family reunification applications.

"I want to return to the Netherlands, for the future of my children", a 23-year-old Dutch jihadist in Syria said in an anonymous interview with Belgian broadcaster VRT. The pregnant woman and her young son are currently living in a refugee camp near the Syrian city of Raqqa.

The Netherlands is an interesting "supermarket" for countries that want to make weapons of mass destruction, director Onno Eichelsheim of military intelligence service MIVD said in an interview with ANP. According to him, the Dutch intelligence services annually block a "significant number of attempts" of "countries of concerns" trying to acquire knowledge or materials for such weapons from the Netherlands.
