The police arrested 12 people in the Netherlands for involvement in the production and export of drugs to Scandinavia. A 13th suspect was arrested in Peer, Belgium. The suspects are 12 men and a woman between the ages of 32 and 16 years. They were arrested on Monday, but the police only announced the arrests on Thursday.

The police searched buildings in Utrecht, Vleuten, Woerden, Maarssen, Houten, Almere, Waardenburg, Lopikerkapel and Aalsmeer.

Consumers' association Consumentenbond filed a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority against Google. According to the union, Google 'tricks' Android users into giving permission for their smartphones' location to be used, which is against the law, ANP reports.

Research by Consumentenbond showed that 54% of Dutch Android users have the function 'web&app' enabled. This is used to keep track of location history. The majority of these users did not know that this option was activated, the Dutch association said.

The police arrested two Amsterdam residents, aged 62 and 69 years, on suspicion of international drug trafficking on Tuesday morning. The two are suspected of a large number of drug transports to Denmark, Sweden and the United Kingdom, NU.nl reports. 

Police officers also searched three homes, including one in Belgium.

The Public Prosecutor released two of four men who were from custody. The other two men will be arraigned on Thursday, NU.nl reports.

Investigation into a 30-year-old man from Delft and a 23-year-old from Gouda did not reveal any indications of involvement in terrorism, the Prosecutor said. They were released from custody on Wednesday, but remain suspects.

The police arrested four men in Rotterdam on Sunday evening on suspicion of involvement in terrorism, the Public Prosecutor said in a statement on Tuesday. The suspects are three Dutch men and one Swedish man.

A foreign police service informed the Dutch authorities about the 29-year-old Swede's possible involvement in terrorism. He arrived in the Netherlands on a plane from Stockholm on Sunday afternoon. The police kept an eye on him, and arrested him with the three Dutch men early in the evening.

The Netherlands is Europe's fourth most innovative country, according to the European Commissions' European Innovation Scoreboard for 2016. Sweden took first place, like in 2015, followed by Denmark and Finland. The United Kingdom makes up the top 5, NU.nl reports.

The Ajax team departed from Schiphol airport on Tuesday morning and is on their way to Stockholm, where the Amsterdam team is playing against Manchester United in the Europa League finals on Wednesday. Manchester United is also scheduled to travel to Stockholm today.

Tonight both teams will train in the Friends Arena, where the match will be played on Wednesday, NU.nl reports. After training coaches Peter Bosz and Jose Mourinho and a player for each team will give a press conference.

Police in Amsterdam arrested eight suspects connected to a plot to excessively overcharge taxi passengers picked up at Schiphol Airport. In one case investigated by authorities, a Swedish man was ordered to pay 595 euros for a ride from the airport to Amsterdam city center, a taxi fare that normally costs between 40 and 60 euros.

The Swedish government reintroduced military conscription, which was abolished in the country in 2010. The Swedish decision again drew attention to the discussion of a Dutch military draft, Metro Nieuws reports.

According to the newspaper, Sweden and the Netherlands can't really be compared. Firstly, Sweden is not a member of NATO, and is therefore completely responsible for its own defense. Now that Russia is emphatically aimed at the Baltic region, Sweden decided it is time to strengthen the army, and there are too few voluntary recruits.
