Authorities in the Netherlands will pursue a criminal case against a doctor accused of performing euthanasia on a 74-year-old incapacitated woman with dementia. Her prosecution will be the country's first against a doctor involving euthanasia since the Dutch law permitting the practice went into law over 15 years ago.
No criminal offenses were discovered in the investigation into the suicide of Bosnian-Croatian war criminal Slobodan Praljak in the court of the Yugoslavia Tribunal in The Hague last year, the Public Prosecutor concluded. The former general drank poison after the tribunal sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
The bodies of three Dutch people were found in a house in the Spanish town of Coin, near the city of Malaga. The Spanish police are investigating how they died, NOS reports.
According to Spanish media, the victims are a 62-year-old man, his 59-year-old wife and his 89-year-old mother-in-law. The bodies were in the house for some time. They were found after neighbors complained about a strong stench.

"In the interests of solidarity and because of the unrest that has arisen, it is important that there is a large investigation into whether her accusations are true or not", Taheri said.

Earlier on Wednesday Dille posted a video on Facebook in which she claimed that she was kidnapped, raped and assaulted by a group of Muslim people on March 15th last year - the day of the municipal elections. The perpetrators wanted her to keep quiet in the city council, Dille said.
One of the two Dutch who were seriously injured during an attack in Munster in April, passed away. The 56-year-old man from Albergen succumbed to his injuries, his family confirmed to RTV Oost.
The man had been kept in a coma for months and underwent dozens of surgeries. His girlfriend was also injured in the attack, sustaining multiple fractures.
The government is pushing an extra 2 million euros per year into suicide prevention foundation 113 Zelfmoordpreventie, State Secretary Paul Blokhuis of Public Health announced on Wednesday. He hopes that this extra money will help reduce the number of suicides and attempts thereto in the Netherlands, NOS reports.
Until now 113 received an annual subsidy of 3.4 million euros. That amount is now increasing to 5.4 million euros. "Every suicide represents a world of sorrow and powerlessness", Blokhuis said. "We must continue to make every effort to reduce the number of suicides."

More men than women died of cancer last year. 35 percent of the men who died in 2017 died of cancer, compared to 27 percent of women. The number of people who died of cancer also increased. The number of teenagers committing suicide in the Netherlands is increasing alarmingly. Last year the number teens who died by suicide nearly doubled, Statistics Netherlands reported on Tuesday.
In total 1,917 people committed suicide in the Netherlands last year, 23 more than in 2016. The number of teens between the ages of 10 and 20 that died by suicide increased from 48 in 2016 to 81 last year.

Vladyslav Voloshyn, an Ukrainian military pilot blamed by Russia for shooting down flight MH17, has died. He was killed by gunshots, Ukrainian media report, quoting the local police.

A 46-year-old man from Zoetermeer killed himself and his 4-year-old son by jumping in front of an oncoming train in Haarle, Overijssel on Saturday night, the police said in a statement.
Around 9:30 p.m. the police received a report of a suicide on the rails near Oude Deventerweg in Haarle. A few minutes later a man and his son were reported missing from a vacation home on a bungalow park in the area. At the rails, responding officers found the bodies of a man and a child. They were identified as the two missing from the bungalow park.
A 27-year-old woman who died on Djakartaterras in Amsterdam on Sunday morning, was killed in a fall, RTL Nieuws reports. The police are considering three scenarios - an accident, suicide or a crime. The victim is Sofie Kerklaan from Amsterdam, according to newspaper AD.
