The directors of city and municipal museums wrote a letter to the culture aldermen in their municipalities, asking to also be remembered in coronavirus aid measures. According to them, the 300 million euros made available by Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven of Culture mainly benefits the state-subsidized museums. But municipal and provincially supported museums, which make up 70 percent of the sector, are being overlooked, Het Parool reports.
The Amsterdam Art Council advised the Stedelijk Museum to focus on its own comprehensive collection instead of trying to compete with a "jet set" of super rich art collectors and museums with much higher budgets, NU.nl reports.

The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam has received a sizable donation from the artists Coosje van Bruggen and Claes Oldenburg, NRC reports.The museum received a total of 175 artworks by 34 artists, including works from artists Carl Andre, Hanne Darboven, Anselm Kiefer, Bruce Nauman, Jeff Wall and Lawrence Weiner.
