Volunteers for Christian party SGP packed 30 thousand eletronic candles in the center of The Hague on Tuesdsay night, one each for the 30 thousand abortions per year. The candles burned for one hour, RTL reports.

The candles were placed so that the number 30 000 could be read from the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament.

The SGP is focuessed on security and family in its campaign for the elections in March next year. The Christian party wants 4 billion euros extra for Defense, and 1 thousand euros for first time parents, NOS reports

According to the SGP, the world is rapidly becoming more dangerous and a "strong" army is needed to protect against it. "Security comes with a price tag and we have to pay it. Otherwise the price may well be too high." The party wants 5 thousand more police officers and neighborhood officers in villages nad neighborhoods.

The VVD is very much against setting a minimum age to qualify for euthanasia after a full or completed life. In a parliamentary debate on the government's plan, VVD parliamentarian Arno Rutte called it inappropriate because it would make people who reach that age feel uncomfortable with the idea that their lives are now "complete", the Telegraaf reports.

The Dutch government wants to adjust the Euthanasia Act so that people who aren't sick, but feel that their life is completed, can end their lives with assisted suicide. This will only be allowed under "strict and rigorous criteria", the government wrote to parliament. The majority of parliamentarians support the plan.

Most Dutch parliamentarians support a plan to increase the maximum age for IVF treatments from 43 years to 50 years. Only the small Christian parties are still objecting, Trouw reports. 

The maximum age for IVF treatment in the Netherlands is currently 43 years old. But according to Minister Edith Schippers of Public Health, doctors believe that IVF is possible up to the age of 50 without taking irresponsible medical risks. Fifty is also the age in the new doctor's guideline.

The SP, for example, wanted to know why the PVV did not get Sinterklaas' advice on their bill, Joop reports.

Security and Justice Minister Ard van der Steur is very much against Christian party SGP's call to ban advertisements that promote adultery by sites like Second Love from the public broadcasters in the Netherlands. According to him, monitoring and supervising ads is the Netherlands Advertising Code Committee's job, and not the government's.
