ProRail is accelerating the plan to run longer trains between Amsterdam and Nijmegen to implement it in the autumn of 2019, three years earlier than initially planned. The route is one of the busiest in the Netherlands, NU.nl reports.
Airlines will pay an average of 7.9 percent more for the use of Schiphol airport in the coming three years. Schiphol is also making it more attractive for companies that use cleaner and quieter planes to use the airport, was revealed in the new tariffs Schiphol released for the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2022, NU.nl reports.
People living around Schiphol airport experience much more noise pollution than Schiphol itself reports, Natuur- en Milieufederatie Noord-Holland said based on its analysis of nuisance experience investigations by GGD organizations in the municipalities around the airport, ANP reports.
A collision between a train and a person resulted far fewer trains running to and from Schiphol airport on Friday morning. Travelers should take considerable delays into account, a spokesperson for rail company NS said to NU.nl.

An employee of a parking manager at Schiphol was arrested with his girlfriend in Gorredijk, Friesland. They were caught using the home of people who were on vacation and had left their car with the parking manager. The residents of the home had no idea, Omrop Fryslan reports.

Train traffic restarted around 2:30 p.m., about an hour after it was halted.
Passengers can still be picked up and dropped off at Schiphol's 'kiss & go' zone for free for the foreseeable future. Schiphol investigated the possibility of charging money for the use of this drop off zone, but that plan has been called back, AT5 reports.

Security guards plan to strike for 24 hours on Tuesday, September 4th. The strike would affect some 200 thousand travelers. "Everyone who flies has to go through the security check. If that is not possible, you can't fly", the Schiphol spokesperson said.

A Syrian man was sentenced to two years in prison, four months of which conditionally suspended, for trafficking children through Schiphol. Between December 2016 and February 2018 the man smuggled five children from Greece, through Schiphol and into the Netherlands, AT5 reports.
According to the Public Prosecutor, the man himself is an asylum seeker from Syria. He told the court that he wanted to help separated families by bringing their children to them. He called the trafficking an expression of "charity", according to the broadcaster.
