The Public Prosecutor donated a boat seized in a money laundering and drug trafficking investigation to the Scheepvaart en Transport College in Rotterdam. Usually seized goods are sold through the Ministry of Finance's department Domeinen, and proceeds go toward the Dutch treasury. The Public Prosecutor is now experimenting with putting some seized items back into society, the Prosecutor said in a statement.

A 54-year-old man died after a fight at the Zuidplein subway station in Rotterdam on Friday afternoon. So far multiple people responded to the police's call for witnesses to come forward, AD reports.

The fight happened around 4:15 p.m. on Friday, near the lift on the platform towards Spijkenisse. The 54-year-old man fell and briefly lost consciousness. Responding police officers briefly managed to talk to the man. He was taken to hospital by ambulance. During the course of the evening, his condition deteriorated and he passed away.

A 21-year-old man from Rotterdam was arrested for euthanizing a patient without her permission or that of a relative, which the Public Prosecutor is charging as murder. The nursing home employee is also suspected of attempting to do the same to two other patients. The suspect worked at a number of care institutions, the Prosecutor said in a statement on Monday.

The police discriminated against an administrative officer by forbidding her to wear a headscarf when interacting with the public, the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights ruled on Monday in a complaint filed by the Rotterdam officer, NOS reports.

The officer in question, Sarah Izat, was allowed to wear a headscarf while performing her administrative duties, but had to remove it when interacting with the public - such as when she took 3D declarations.

Snic, the organization of the Sinterklaas Parade in the city, discussed the controversial character and how to modernize the children's party with Platform Rutu, which represents various African communities in Rotterdam. They decided to remove any reference to black or other possibly offensive stereotypes, including the word 'Zwarte' from Piet's name, RTV Rijnmond reports.

Most of the municipalities are sticking to blackface or dark brown makeup, according to AD's Piet Atlas. Amsterdam and The Hague will have no blackface Piets, with Amsterdam also designing a completely new costume. Utrecht plans mostly Chimney Piets - with faces covered in soot marks - and a few traditional blackface Piets. Rotterdam is keeping its plans secret until the day before the celebration.

The municipality of Rotterdam is launching an action plan against aggressive dogs. The plan consists of a number of measures aimed at preventing dog bites. "We don't want to take action only after a serious bite incident occurred, but rather prevent it", alderman Joost Eerdmans said, according to RTV Rijnmond. "That's why we prepared the 'Aggressive Dog Plan of Action' to preventatively tackle dangerous dogs."
