Nearly three years after being declared bankrupt, retailer V&D is back, but only as an online store. The online store is focused on the "interests of active over 40 year olds, such as travel, hobbies, health, lifestyle, gardening and fashion", AD reports.
The V&D brand name is getting another chance. The bankruptcy administrators reached an agreement with three entrepreneurs about taking over the brand rights. They plan to open a V&D online store
A plan to rescue Dutch department store V&D came to a sudden end on Tuesday when potential buyer Coolinvestments pulled out of talks with the retail outlet's bankruptcy curators. Coolinvestments, a local firm owned by clothing industry magnate Roland Kahn, said it was simply not possible to get all parties involved onboard with their vision of a relaunch.
Babycare chain store Prènatal, and clothing chain Coolcat, say they have not refused to sign an accord amongst retailers to commit to better working conditions and safety for textile factory workers in Bangladesh. Along with discount shop Wibra, the two stores were targeted by Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen.
