A 19-year-old man from IJsselstein was seriously injured when he crashed his car during a police chase in Houten early on Sunday morning. He was taken to hospital after being resuscitated at the scene, RTL Nieuws reports.

The police tried to pull the man over for a traffic check on Rondweg in Houten around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday. The man drove his car into a lamppost, then backwards into a police car, and then sped away. 

On De Rede, the man hit the sidewalk. His car flipped and crashed into the water.

A man drowned in Amsterdam, in Hoofddorp a 4-year-old was resuscitated and rushed to hospital after being removed from a lake, a woman disappeared underwater in Nuenen, and two people are missing in Noordwijk.

A 58-year-old man drowned in Amsterdam on Monday after he jumped into a canal while fleeing from shop employees who suspected him of theft, AT5 reports.

During his flight, the man jumped into the water on Kostverlorenstraat. He tried to swim to the other side, but disappeared under water.

Divers from the fire department got the man out of the water and he was resuscitated at the scene for a long time. He was taken to hospital, where he passed away.

A 59-year-old man from Amstelveen died after he was resuscitated at festival 909 in Amsterdam on Saturday night. The police are investigating his cause of death, Het Parool reports.

The man collapsed at the techno festival on Nieuwe Meerlaan around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday. He was resuscitated and rushed to hospital, where he died a short time later, a spokesperson for the police said to the newspaper on Monday. 

The cause of the man's death is still under investigation. The police believe that drug use may have played a role, the spokesperson said to Het Parool.

A 15-year-old boy became unwell near the pier of Lauwersoog on Monday evening during a school trip. He was resuscitated at the scene and rushed to a hospital in Groningen. His current condition is unknown.

According to the Telegraaf, the boy was taken to hospital by helicopter.

The boy is from the Roelof van Echten College in Hoogeveen, RTV Drenthe reports. A group of around 40 pupils cycled from Hoogeveen to Lauwersoog on Monday evening, to get on a boat there for a school trip. The boy fell ill near the pier.

A pregnant woman who was r, passed away. Her baby, who was born in the bakery through an emergency caesarean section, is still in the hospital in critical condition, a spokesperson for the police confirmed to RTL Nieuws.

A baby was born in Bakery Risseeuw in Hulst on Monday morning, shortly after the mother went into cardiac arrest. The mother was resuscitated. Both she and the child were rushed to hospital, AD reports.

The pregnant woman became unwell in the bakery on Stationsweg around 10:30 a.m. Emergency services responded in large numbers. The mother was resuscitated and the baby was brought into the world through a caesarean section.

Mayor Hanne van Aart of the Noord-Brabant village of Loon op Zand resuscitated a man during the village's King's Day festivities on Friday morning. The traffic controller fell unconscious, and Van Aart provided first aid until emergency services arrived, AD reports.

The man regained consciousness and was rushed to the hospital.

A massive 58 percent of Dutch people are unwilling to resuscitate someone they don't know, the Red Cross announced based on a study by Kantar Public. The aid organization calls this worrying, NU.nl reports.

Less than a third of Dutch that don't have first aid experience are willing to use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to resuscitate someone. That percentage is much higher among Dutch with first aid experience - 75 percent.

A massive 170 thousand people in the Netherlands are registered with heart foundation Hartstichting as civilian aid workers able to help with a resuscitation. This makes the Netherlands the first country in the world with a  "fine-grained and nationwide network of registered civilian aid workers who can resuscitate someone if called via a call system", the foundation said, RTL Nieuws reports.

The majority of Dutch people has an alarming lack of knowledge when it comes to how to perform CPR and most would rather not be the one to do it. The Red Cross calls this lack of knowledge life threatening, precisely because acting quickly can be the difference between life and death.
