The Amsterdam mayor, police and Public Prosecutor are concerned about a seeming shift towards more invisible forms of crime in the Dutch the capital, they said in a report on Monday. With "invisible" crimes they refer to actions that are criminal in nature, but are socially embedded in neighborhoods and often out of the control and sight of the government, ANP reports.

A large proportion of this invisible crime has to do with conflicts in the drug world, according to the Amsterdam triangle. These crimes lead to arms trade, money laundering and assassinations.

A prosecutor from the Noord-Nederland Public Prosecution Service is in hiding due to serious threats made against her. She is investigating outlaw motorcycle club No Surrender, but it is not clear whether the threats came from the club, the Telegraaf reports.

Almost at the same time as this prosecutor, Emmen mayor Bouke Arends also went into hiding due to threats received after he closed a No Surrender club house. According to the Public Prosecutor, the mayor and prosecutor going into hiding does not necessarily mean that No Surrender is behind the threats.

Decorated Dutch soldier Marco Kroon says that he had no choice but to kill a man while on a secret mission in Afghanistan in 2017. He was previously captured and tortured by the man he eventually killed, he said in an interview with newspaper AD. "It was him or me."

Kroon was previously captured by the man and was tortured for information, he said to the newspaper. According to him, he did not reveal anything. After he was released for unknown reasons, he went looking for the man because Kroon wanted to prevent the man endangering the mission.

The Rotterdam police's cold case team arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of involvement in their 29-year-old daughter's death in 2012. The 63-year-old man and 58-year-old woman from Zwaag were arrested two weeks ago and remanded into custody for 30 days on Tuesday, the Public Prosecutor announced on Thursday.

"The cigarette is a criminal product and all 'dealers' must be dealt with. This product is so harmful. Toxicological tests will be done on the blood of 39-year-old Paul Selier from The Hague who died after being arrested in Waddinxveen on Friday morning, the Public Prosecutor announced. The Prosecutor wants to determine whether drug- or medicine use can explain the man's "disturbed behavior".

The results of the blood tests will also be taken into account in determining the victim's cause of death.

The court in Den Bosch found 76-year-old Albert Heringa guilty of assisting his 99-year-old mother in committing suicide and gave him a conditionally suspended prison sentence of six months. The sentence is three months higher than what the Public Prosecutor demanded. This was the fourth time this case appeared in court, NOS reports.

Extra security measures will be implemented in the Amsterdam neighborhood where a 17-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured in a shooting at a community center on Friday. On Wednesday morning the police raided a shop in Enschede after investigation revealed that the store was selling TV receivers with software installed that gives users access to complete Ziggo television packages at a significantly lower price. This practice is generally called Card-sharing and is punishable according to the Dutch Penal code and the Dutch Copyright Act, the police said in a statement.

The Dutch authorities asked Turkey to extradite suspected Dutch jihadist Xaviera S. to the Netherlands. She was one of 14 on Tuesday. 

Wim de Bruin of the Public Prosecution service confirmed the extradition request to newspaper AD. According to him, the Dutch authorities want to prosecute all Dutch suspected of participating in a terrorist organizations in the  Netherlands.

The Tax Authority's investigation service FIOD is investigating fraud with construction invoices at Schiphol airport. Several employees and former employees of the airport and external companies working for Schiphol are suspected of involvement, NRC reports.

The Public Prosecution Service confirmed to the newspaper that an investigation was launched into "passive and active bribery" and involvement in forgery. Ten to 15 people are being questioned as suspects and witnesses, NRC writes based on anonymous sources.
