The Public Prosecutor issued an official and public summons to 10 Dutch men believed to be fighting for terrorist organization ISIS in Syria and Iraq. These men are summoned to attend a pretrial hearing in the court of Rotterdam on March 23rd, the Prosecutor said in a statement on the police website.

The police and Public Prosecutor now have access to the contents of 3.6 million messages sent through a network of specially customized BlackBerry smartphones. The authorities believe that these messages were sent by criminals, the Prosecutor announced on Thursday.

In April 2016 the network of Nijmegen business Ennetcom was taken off the air. According to the Public Prosecutor, a criminal investigation into Ennetcom was launched after the technology company surfaced in a number of investigations into assassinations.

A 45-year-old mother and 36-year-old stepfather are accused of horribly abusing a then 3-year-old girl, Lisa. They left the girl outside, naked in the could, rubbed pepper in her eyes and gagged her if she screamed too much. The mother confessed to the abuse in the court of Arnhem on Wednesday, though maintains that it was the stepfather who tortured the now 5-year-old girl, not her, AD reports.

Two brothers from Amersfoort are suspected of trying to import half a kilogram of Semtex to use in making plastic explosives, according to the Public Prosecutor. 22-year-old Ali A. and 19-year-old brother Yusuf were caught after the FBI noticed them ordering Semtex and three detonators on the Dark Web and notified the Dutch authorities, AD reports.

The parents of a 23-year-old autistic and schizophrenic young man who was shot dead by the police in Amsterdam last year, want the Public Prosecutor to prosecute the police officers involved, ANP reports.

Earlier this week the Public Prosecutor concluded that no prosecution was necessary. The officers acted in self defense because the man attacked them with a knife.

The police arrested a 68-year-old man in Noord-Brabant on suspicion of selling fake hospital bills in Thailand, the Dutch Public Prosecutor announced on Wednesday. The Prosecutor believes that the fraud committed with these fake invoices amounts to nearly 130 thousand euros, ANP reports.

The suspect sold fake hospital bills to Dutch tourists visiting Thailand. The bills shows charges for admittance to a hospital in Bangkok. When returning to the Netherlands, the Dutch tourists then submitted the bills to their health insurers for compensation.

Between 1996 and 2003 Dutch construction company Ballast Nedam paid bribes to the Saudi kings Fahd and Abdullah, broadcaster Human reported on Monday based on documents from the Tax Authorities' investigative department FIOD. All in all Ballast Nedam paid 500 million dollars to members of the Saudi royal family, according to the broadcaster.

The company and the Public Prosecutor reached a 17.5 million euros settlement on this bribery case in 2012.

The driver of a crane that collapsed at a vintage car festival in Oosterwolde, Gelderland almost two years ago, was sentenced to 240 hours of community service by the court in Zutphen on Thursday. One man was killed in the accident and 11 others were injured, many of them children.

The court in Zutphen ruled that the crane driver was careless and inattentive. The 48-year-old man was licensed to drive the crane, but not to poperate it.

The Public Prosecutor closed the investigation into the death of 19-year-old Leon Groeneweg from Schiedam. There are no new leads to follow and it is not even clear whether a crime was committed, AD reports.

Leon Groeneweg disappeared in June 2008, shortly after telling his parents that he wants to part ways with a group of friends because of their increasing drug use and criminal activity. His body was found in the Brielse Meer, near camp Kruininger Gors nine days later.

Possible forgery by a clerk at the court in Arnhem could result in a 26-year-old man from Arnhem, convicted of killing his infant son, going free, according to the lawyers representing him, AD reports.

The 26-year-old man was sentenced to 46 months in prison in October last year for the severe abuse and neglect of his son, resulting in the baby's death in 2010. The baby had several broken bones and eventually died from the effects of an intestinal perforation. According to the doctors who examined the baby's body, that was caused by a hard punch in the stomach.

Three leading members of motorcycle gang Satudarah were convicted in a big drug case on Monday. Their sentences were much lower than the Public Prosecutor demanded, however. According to the court in Breda, there is no evidence that the suspects formed a criminal organization, ANP reports.

The highest sentence was imposed on Bjorn E., vice president of the Satudarah chapter in Tilburg. He got 46 months in prison for money laundering and involvement in the production of raw materials for drugs. The Prosecutor demanded 8 years against him

The partner of murdered Amsterdam woman Susanna Boon is in custody again. A spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor would not say why he was arrested again, newspaper AD reports.

A hiker found Boon's body in a forest in Nunspeet Gelderland on March 29th. The woman had been missing since January 8th last year after a fight with her partner at her home on Jacob van Lennepstraat.

In court on Friday Willem Holleeder accused his sister Astrid of sabotaging the process of the criminal trial against him. "All this whining is not because of the magistrate or my lawyers, but Astrid. She wants to keep control", Holleeder said in the 10th pro-forma hearing in the lawsuit against him, AD reports.

The Public Prosecutor again demanded prison time in the appeal case against Bart van U., who was convicted last year for killing politician Els Borst and his sister Lois. Van U. was sentenced to institutionalized psychiatric care, but the Public Prosecutor believes that prison time is appropriate, NU.nl reports.

The Dutch Public Prosecutor wants to prosecute jihadists before their return to the Netherlands, while they are still in Syria and Iraq, national coordinating prosecutor Ferry van Veghel said in Nieuwsuur. "Given the high risk of people who come back from this area, we do not want to wait until they come back before opening criminal investigations. We want it all to start now and continue in their absence", he said.

Former VVD deputy Ton Hooijmaijers was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for corruption, forgery and money laundering by the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The Supreme court thereby upholds a ruling made by the court of appeals in April 2015, NU.nl reports. Hooijmaijers himself filed the appeal to the Supreme Court. No further appeal is possible. 

The Supreme Court did agree to give a 2 month shortage on the imposed sentence of 2.5 years because the court exceeded the reasonable time limit for submitting documents, according to the newspaper.

Criminal lawyer Goran Sluiter filed charges against Rabobank on Thursday accusing the bank's executives of complicity in murder and other crimes committed by Mexican drug cartels. This follows an investigation by the United States judiciary into a Rabobank subsidiary suspected of laundering Mexican drug profits, the Volkskrant reports.
