, the man who killed populist politician Pim Fortuyn 16 years ago, will be allowed to emigrate. Van der Graaf and the Public Prosecutor reached an agreement about his duty to report to the probation service. He no longer has to physically report to the probation service every six weeks, but must send in a written report about his wellbeing every eight weeks until 2020.

A disruption at telecom provider Tele2 over the weekend turned off hundreds of ankle monitors. The disruption started late on Friday morning. By Sunday morning, all ankle monitors were again connected with the control room, the Ministry of Justice and Security said, RTL Nieuws reports.

Volkert van der Graaf, the man who murdered populist politician Pim Fortuyn in 2002, no longer has to report to the probation service every six weeks, the court in The Hague ruled on Tuesday. Van der Graaf filed summary proceedings asking the court to lift this obligation abroad, NU.nl reports.

The Dutch probation service no longer wants to work with convicts who are guilty of death threats, or who are themselves threatened with death. The service's employees don't feel safe at their jobs. "I do not want to run the risk that our probation officers are shot at", chairman Sjef van Gennip said to the Volkskrant.

The Number of Dutch people in foreign prisons is falling rapidly. For the first time in years there are fewer than 2 thousand Dutch in a foreign cell, AD reports based on figures from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Five years ago 2,542 Dutch were in prison abroad. As of January 1st of this year, that number dropped to 1,935. The number of Dutch imprisoned in a foreign country for drug-related crimes dropped especially sharply: from 1,679 to 971.

Saleh A., a 29-year-old man who  while carrying a Palestinian flag on December 7th, apologizes to the owner of the restaurant and the Dutch people, his lawyer said in court on Wednesday. He attacked the restaurant out of anger about the situation in Israel, the man told the court, the Telegraaf  reports.

Volkert van der Graaf, the convicted murderer of populist politician Pim Fortuyn, does not have to go back to jail, the Amsterdam court ruled on Monday. According to the court, Van der Graaf is keeping to his conditions for early release, NU.nl reports.

Volkert van der G., the environmental activist who killed politician Pim Fortuyn, will be freed today after 12 years in prison, having served two-thirds of his sentence. Van der G. will have to adhere to some conditions of his release.
