A 30-year-old man arrested by posing as the 'ideal marriage candidate', is almost certainly the father of a newborn baby found dead in bushes along the Sloterplas in Amsterdam in 2016, Het Parool reports. A spokesperson for the police confirmed this to RTL Nieuws.

Multiple shots were fired during a jewelry store robbery on Parkstraat in Breda on Wednesday. A staff member of the store sustained a head injury, though the police told NU.nl that the employee was not hit by a bullet. 

The robbery was committed by four armed persons at around 11:00 a.m., according to the newspaper. Afterwards the robbers were driven away in a passenger car. The car was later found in a parking lot on Nieuwe Ginnekenstraat, a few streets away from the store.

The police had to remove a man from the public gallery in the Tweede Kamer on Wednesday afternoon for disrupting the parliamentary debate. The man tried to start a discussion with State Secretary Raymond Knops of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations by screaming at him from the gallery. The elderly man seemed to be confused and could barely stand on his feet, AD reports.

The Public Prosecutor suspects that 22-year-od Mehmet A. from Tiel, a police officer in training in Amsterdam, was deliberately stationed with the police to pass on information to the underworld, the Prosecutor said in the trial against the man on Tuesday. A. is suspected of selling confidential police information to criminals. The Prosecutor demanded 45 months in prison and a ban on performing a public function for 8 years against the man, AT5 reports.

According to the police, the man pretended to be 'the ideal marriage candidate' and then stole tens of thousands of euros from the women. The Amsterdam police are looking for more women who may have fallen victim to the Gelderland man's scheme, NU.nl reports.

Three customs officer working in the port of Rotterdam were arrested on Monday on suspicion of money laundering. 

The three men, aged 31, 34 and 37 from Rotterdam, Schiedam and The Hague, were arrested after three homes and a business premises were searched in January, NOS reports.

They fell under suspicion because they made striking cash withdrawals and deposits on their bank accounts. According to the Public Prosecutor, these amounts were not in proportion with their legal income as customs officers.

The police suspect that criminals stay in these apartments - they're rented out, but officially no one is registered as living there, NOS reports.

A body was found in the Nederrijn in Arnhem on Monday afternoon. A local resident saw the body floating in the river along Westervoortsedijk, across from computer center CCV, De Gelderlander reports.

The police removed the body from the water and transferred it to Elst for further investigation. So far nothing is known about the victim's identity. It is also unclear how long the victim was in the water. A police officer at the scene told the newspaper it was "already some time".

The police are investigating.

Three people were arrested in the Dominican Republic in connection with the death of a 55-year-old Dutch man last week. The suspects are the victim's 22-year-old wife and two men in their twenties, NOS reports.

The Dutch man was gunned down at his home in Puerto Plata. He was shot multiple times while sitting in his car. 

According to Dominican media, one of the male suspects had a relationship with the victim's wife. She asked him to kill her husband for around 3,500 euros.

A decorated military veteran was arrested over the weekend in Den Bosch, accused of striking a police officer with a head butt. The officer initially stopped Marco Kroon, 47, for urinating in public, according to the Brabants Dagblad.

The investigation was reportedly being carried out by the Marechaussee, the branch of the military which handles border enforcement and specific policing duties. Current and former members of the military accused of criminal offenses often have their cases investigated by Marechaussee personnel, RTL Nieuws reported.

A banner with insulting text about the Prophet Muhammad was placed at the As-Soennah mosque in The Hague on Sunday morning. Anti-Islam movement Pegida is responsible for the the action, a spokesperson for the movement confirmed to NOS on Sunday afternoon. 

Translated from Dutch, the banner read: "Prophet Muhammad children fucker". The banner was accompanied by a mannequin wearing a beard, a robe, a turban, and carrying a baby doll. The mannequin was supposed to show Muhammad "having sex with a baby", Abdelhamid Taheri, an employee of the mosque, said to NOS.

An explosion outside a coffee shop in Amsterdam Oost on Sunday morning prompted officials to evacuate several buildings in the area. The blast was the second to take place near the Smoke Palace in the last six weeks.

No injuries were reported in the immediate aftermath on Linnaeusstraat, were the incident took place.

This method is not in conflict with the principle that a suspect does not have to cooperate with their own conviction, the Noord-Holland court ruled on Thursday in a case against three men suspected of phishing activities. Shots were fired at a home in Helmond, injuring the resident, early on Thursday morning. While the police were chasing the suspected perpetrators, one of the suspects jumped out of the moving car. He was "very seriously injured", the Oost-Brabant police said on Twitter.

The shooting happened on Zeppelinstraat in Helmond at around 4:00 a.m., RTL Nieuws reports. The resident was hit in his lower leg. He was taken to hospital. A woman and a young child were also in the home during the shooting. They were not hurt.

A 20-year-old man from Groningen was arrested during a routine traffic check on the A28 near Zwolle after the police found 67 kilograms of cannabis and 69 packets of hashish in the trunk of his car. According to the police, the drugs have a street value of over 500 thousand euros.

Paramedics responded to the home and found the woman seriously injured. Attempts to save her life were to no avail. She died at the scene. The man called the ambulance. The paramedics called the police when they found out it involved a violent incident, according to the local broadcaster.

A Hague dog decided to scare his owner and go on a little adventure on Tuesday. The not-so-good boy went missing from The Hague on Tuesday afternoon, and was later found riding in the first class compartment of the train to Leiden Central Station, the Leiden Noord police said on Facebook.

On Tuesday afternoon the police in The Hague received a report of the missing pet. The dog was last seen near the train on the station. His owner had no idea where the dog wandered off to.
