From this month, the emergency control room will be able to track the location of Android phones that call emergency number 112. According to the police, "fast, accurate and reliable location determination is of great importance to help people in need faster and more efficiently and to better facilitate the emergency services", AD reprts. 

This is a feature Google integrated in Android in 2016. Providers can enable it from this month. Smartphones with Android 4.0 or later versions automatically send location data when they call the emergency number.

The police fined 23 motorists on Wednesday afternoon for filming an accident while driving. A fine of 239 euros will soon arrive at their door, NOS reports.

At around noon on Wednesday a truck's trailer collapsed on the Moerdijk Bridge towards Breda due to the strong wind. The truck ended up blocking the road. The accident caused a long traffic jam. Many drivers used the delay to take pictures or video of the accident.

A fugitive convict who the police placed on the national wanted list last week, is seemingly taunting the police with pictures and videos of himself enjoying his freedom on holiday. The man, 35-year-old Shahin Gheiybe, posted a video on Instagram in which he says he is enjoying the nice weather. The police showed the video on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday.

"You must not believe everything that is said about me in the media. The truth is very different", Gheiybe said on the video. The police believe the video was shot in Iran.

The police arrested two men, aged 18 and 21, in Urk on Tuesday evening for involvement in an assault at a home in the Flevoland town on Monday night. Around a hundred young people gathered at the home on Monday. Tuesday night was again restless in Urk, with police officers doing checks and searches both inside and outside the town, a spokesperson said to NU.nl.

Criminal offenses are kept off the books, police officers try to discourage citizens from filling reports, and cases are marked as 'resolved' when they are not, according to the study published in De Groene Amsterdammer.

The platform surveyed nearly 1,500 police officers and conducted interviews with dozens of cops and others involved.

Dutch public works department Rijkswaterstaat suspended an employee on suspicion of large-scale fraud. According to Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen of Infrastructure and Water Management, the employee is suspected of submitting false invoices since 2014, involving an amount of at least 1.7 million euros, NOS reports.

Rijkswaterstaat reported the incident to the police, who launched an investigation. The police suspect that others may also be involved in the fraud. The home of the employee was searched. So far no arrests were made.

The police shot a man in Etten-Leur on Tuesday morning after he threatened officers with a cleaver. According to the police, the incident happened on Muldersweg at around 8:00 a.m. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance, NU.nl reports.

The police responded to the scene after a report of a possibly disturbed man with a cleaver acting aggressively. The man threatened the responding officers and refused to put down the knife. When he did not respond to a warning shot, the police decided to shoot him, according to the newspaper.

An 18-year-old man from Amsterdam was arrested at the end of last year for threatening to commit a school shooting. Footage of other school shootings and bomb attacks were found on his phone. The arrest was only announced now due to the personal circumstances and the young age of the suspect, a spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor said to AT5.

The suspect was arrested after the posted a comment on a YouTube video saying that he was planning his own school shooting, according to the Amsterdam broadcaster. The man was busy making firearms and knives and acquiring a balaclava.

Three CDA politicians reported the disappearance of around 30 election posters to the police. They believe the posters were deliberately stolen. On Twitter CDA Provincial States member Marcel Deryckere called it "extremely sad" that these signs were stolen. "Campaigning is a celebration and elections are the culmination of our democracy."

The affected CDA members are one candidate for the Noord-Brabant provincial government, and two candidates for water boards, according to Omroep Brabant. The posters were stolen from the public space, for example from lamp posts.

The Spanish police rescued an elderly Dutch woman and German man from what the police describe as a "horror nursing home" near the city of Cadiz. The two elderly people were locked up with at least five other foreign seniors in the nursing home, where they were drugged, abused and given food exclusively through tube feeding, while they could eat normally, NOS reports.

Six people were arrested on suspicion of defrauding the elderly. According to the Spanish police, they stole over 1.8 million euros from their victims.

A person was found dead in a home on Weimarstraat in The Hague on Thursday. The police suspect carbon monoxide poisoning may be the cause. Eleven other people, including four police officers, were taken to hospital, ANP reports.

The victims all come from homes on Weimarstraat. The police officers became unwell when they entered the homes.

As far as is currently known, none of the 11 people taken to hospital are in critical condition, according to the news wire.

The homes have all been aired out.

A 30-year-old man arrested by posing as the 'ideal marriage candidate', is almost certainly the father of a newborn baby found dead in bushes along the Sloterplas in Amsterdam in 2016, Het Parool reports. A spokesperson for the police confirmed this to RTL Nieuws.

Multiple shots were fired during a jewelry store robbery on Parkstraat in Breda on Wednesday. A staff member of the store sustained a head injury, though the police told NU.nl that the employee was not hit by a bullet. 

The robbery was committed by four armed persons at around 11:00 a.m., according to the newspaper. Afterwards the robbers were driven away in a passenger car. The car was later found in a parking lot on Nieuwe Ginnekenstraat, a few streets away from the store.

The police had to remove a man from the public gallery in the Tweede Kamer on Wednesday afternoon for disrupting the parliamentary debate. The man tried to start a discussion with State Secretary Raymond Knops of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations by screaming at him from the gallery. The Public Prosecutor suspects that 22-year-od Mehmet A. from Tiel, a police officer in training in Amsterdam, was deliberately stationed with the police to pass on information to the underworld, the Prosecutor said in the trial against the man on Tuesday. A. is suspected of selling confidential police information to criminals. The Prosecutor demanded 45 months in prison and a ban on performing a public function for 8 years against the man, AT5 reports.

The worst score the police received came from police officers themselves on employership and leadership. According to the report, these scores are "deep into the danger zone", NU.nl reports.
