Police in Purmerend say one man was arrested after a dead body was found in an apartment there.  Several investigative units were called to the scene on Burgemeester D. Kooimanweg, including forensic evidence team, police said.

The body was found on Monday morning in the Noord-Holland town under “suspicious circumstances,” police said without elaborating. An apartment in the De Beemster complex was the focus of the investigation.

No information about the victim, the suspect, or their relationship was revealed as of early Monday afternoon.

A group of 20 civil society organizations, led by anti-discrimination action group Controle Alt Delete, filed an official complaint against the police unit Den Haag. According to the organizations, the police in The Hague have been ignoring signals and reports of discrimination within the police for years and that must change. The complaint was filed with National Police chief Erik Akerboom, and a copy was sent to Minister Ferdinand Grappenhaus of Justice and security.

The police arrested a suspect in connection with two bodies found in a home on Julianalaan in Hengelo on Monday morning. Investigators assume they were killed in a crime. The victims are a man and woman who lived in the house and the arrested suspect is their youngest son, AD reports based on sources.

A group of pickpockets or muggers set off multiple cans of pepper spray at the Martin Garrix performance in the Amsterdam Dance Event during the early hours of Saturday morning. They used the burning eyes and trouble breathing as a distraction to rob party goers of their possessions, the Amsterdam police said in a statement. The police call on victims to come forward.

Two people were found dead in a home on Julianalaan in Hengelo, the Gelderland police said on Twitter on Monday morning.

The cause of their death is not yet clear. The police are investigating. A police spokesperson could not tell Omroep Gelderland whether a crime is suspected of occurring. 

A police command center is parked in front of the house, which is sealed off with police tape. 

So far nothing is known about the identity of the victims.

A car crashed into a terrace on Keizerstraat in Deventer on Sunday morning, injuring five people. The motorist fled the scene, but later turned himself in and was arrested. The police believe the crash was deliberate. 

The emergency services responded to the scene at around 5:30 a.m., after a report that an Audi Q7 crashed into a terrace and then drove off. Five people were injured. Four of them were taken to hospital. The fifth's injuries could be treated at the scene.

In the past a school attendance officer from the municipality of Zwartewaterland investigated the family found living in complete isolation on a farm in Ruinerwold earlier this week. The truancy officer saw no reason to intervene at the time and concluded that te situation was "in order", mayor Eddy Bilder of Zwartwaterland said on Friday, De Stentor reports.

Three people were killed in an accident on the A2 highway between Bruekelen and Vinkeveen on Thursday afternoon. The victims are a 38-year-old man from Vianen, and a man and woman from Bergen aan Zee, both aged 53, the police confirmed. A fourth victim was taken to hospital. 

The accident happened at around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Three cars were involved in the collision, two of which were completely destroyed, according to newspaper AD. The police believe that one of the cars ended up on the wrong side of the highway, crashing into oncoming traffic.

On Thursday the police arrested a second suspect in the investigation into the family found living in a hidden room on a farm in Ruinerwold. The suspect is the father of the family, 67-year-old Gert Jan van D. He is suspected of depriving his six children of their physical freedom, and assault by harming the health of others, the Drenthe police announced.

A burning car containing multiple jerrycans crashed into a police station in Kerkrade at around 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning. No one was injured, the Limburg police said on Twitter.

The incident happened at the police station on Kerkradersteenweg. The car crashed through the glass entrance of the station, according to RTL Nieuws. At least one jerrycan was on fire and the car may have been pushed into the station, a police spokesperson said to the broadcaster.

The fire was quickly extinguished. The jerrycans were filled with - presumably flammable - liquid.

Around two thousand farmers spent the night in The Hague after a major protest on Wednesday, according to estimates from Farmers Defense Force (FDF), the organizer behind the protest. They slept in caravans, tents or their tractors and ended the overnight protest with a breakfast. Around 300 Hague residents, farmers and journalists attended the breakfast, NOS reports.

A demonstration against the Turkish offensive in northeastern Syria in Rotterdam on Wednesday evening got completely out of hand. Protesters and counter protesters clashed multiple times. Three police officers were injured. A total of 23 of protesters were arrested, the Rotterdam police said on Twitter.

An explosive was found outside a restaurant on Karel Mollenstraat Zuid in Valkenswaard during the early hours of Thursday morning. The police closed down the area and evacuated a nearby apartment building as a precaution.

The police announced the discovery of what appeared to be an explosive at around 3:00 a.m. A responding officer notified the Ministry of Defense's explosive disposal department, who determined that it was indeed a real explosive, the police said at around 3:50 a.m. The EOD disarmed it and removed it from the scene. It will be detonated elsewhere.

Police in Utrecht arrested two men suspected of involvement in a rash of attempted robberies where heavy explosions were triggered at German cash machines. The pair are also suspected of torching the escape vehicles used in the crimes.

The two men are both from Utrecht, and are 22 and 23 years of age. They first became suspects in the crimes after arrests were made at an attempted robbery and explosion in Heiligenhaus, Germany this past April.

In most of these incidents, the police officer did not actually have to shock anyone - threatening with the taser already had the desired effect, the police said in a statement.

Public works department Rijkswaterstaat closed the A12 highway from Utrecht to Den Haag at Nootdorp at the request of the police. The highway is overcrowded with farmers on tractors heading towards The Hague for a demonstration. Rijkswaterstaat advises motorists to avoid the highways around The Hague region.

The police discovered a father living with his six children in an 'end of times' bunker on a farm in Ruinerwold. The family, who hasn't seen the outside world for years, was discovered after the oldest son managed to get away on Sunday and went to a local pub for help, RTV Drenthe reports.

The police arrested two men on Tuesday in connection with incidents during a farmers' protest at the Groningen provincial government on Monday. Both men are suspected of public violence, the police said in a statement. That brings the total number of suspects arrested up to three.

On Monday hundreds of farmers went to protest against new rules surrounding nitrogen emissions at eight of the twelve Dutch provincial governments. The protest in Groningen got out of hand.

Fatima Abouloufa, a team chief at the Leiden police who was suspended after drawing public attention to discrimination within the police, is no longer welcome at the police unit Den Haag, which covers Leiden. Paul van Musscher, police chief in The Hague, informed her that she does not have enough support from a dozen managers in the unit, NRC reports.

In June Abouloufa posted on Instagram about racism, discrimination, abuse of power and bullying within the police organization. She wrote that the police management ignores both whistleblowers and complaints.

An ATM bombing on Haarlemmermeerstraat in Amsterdam on Tuesday morning left the entire neighborhood shaken. One sleeping resident was injured when their window shattered due to the blast. "It really sounded like a bomb that went off", another frightened local said to AT5.

The provinces of Gelderland, Overijssel and Drenthe followed Friesland's example and announced on Monday that they are reversing the nitrogen measures they announced last week. This happened as hundreds of farmers took their tractors to protest at eight provincial governments. "This is asking for further actions", Jan Brouwer, director of the Center for Public Order and Safety, said to NOS.

A special unit of the German police rescued a 22-year-old Polish woman on Saturday night, after she was abducted from a holiday park in the Netherlands. Three suspects, aged 26, 27 and 32, all from Poland, were arrested, the Dutch police said in a statement.

In the near future, violence against a police officer or other first responders will always be punished with a prison sentence. Ministers Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security and Sander Dekker for Legal Protection will submit a bill on Monday that prohibits punishing this crime with community service or a fine..

Currently only perpetrators of serious violence and sex crimes are always punished with prison, and never with community service.
