Two people were killed in a car accident on the A12 highway in Zevenaar on Friday morning, the Gelderland police said on Twitter. A third person fled the scene of the accident. The police believe the car involved was used as a getaway car in an ATM bombing in Germany earlier this morning.

The car crashed into the back of a truck at high speed at around 4:30 a.m., Omroep Gelderland reports. The car was not being chased by the police when the accident happened, as previous reports suggested, according to the broadcaster.

The Public Prosecution Service in Antwerp issued a warning against bottles of red wine from Dutch brand Black & Bianco due to the death of a 41-year-old woman from Puurs. The woman died in December, presumably drinking wine from one such bottle. Investigation revealed that she had a deadly amount of MDMA and MDA - substances used in ecstasy - in her blood. Investigators assume that someone added drugs to the wine, NOS reports.

The number of drug labs the police discovered and dismantled in the Netherlands nearly doubled in four years. In 2015, a total of 59 synthetic drug labs were dismantled. Last year there were 90, the Telegraaf reports based on police figures in the National Overview on Synthetic Drugs for 2019.

A 15-year-old boy was found dead at the company where he worked in the Gelderland town of Dodewaard on Wednesday. Emergency services were deployed to the business on the Edisonring, but attempts to resuscitate the boy was to no avail. He died at the scene, the police said on Twitter.

The boy's body was discovered by colleagues just before 4:00 p.m., according to newspaper AD.

The Amsterdam police found a new clue in the investigation into mail bombs sent to various Dutch companies since the end of last year. On the most recently sent mail bombs, the extortioner used a nonexistent company Skysence Trading as the sender. For the return address, they used an existing postcode and existing house number in The Hague, the Amsterdam police said on Twitter.

Authorities detained three people in connection with the suspected manslaughter of a man from Poland. Police found the victim dead inside a vacation home on Kruinweg in Simpelveld, Limburg, on Sunday morning.

“The police are investigating what exactly happened, and what role the suspects played,” police said.

The three suspects taken into custody include a 39-year-old Polish woman, and two men, aged 58 and 63. The victim was 50 years of age.

The police forced a car off the road in Utrecht early on Tuesday morning and arrested the two people inside on suspicion of abducting a man from Eindhoven. Warning shots were fired during the arrests, the Oost-Brabant police said on Twitter. 

The police received a report of a man being forced into a car in Eindhoven. When patrolling officers spotted the car, they gave chase. The car was brought to a halt in Utrecht. As far as is known, no one was hurt.

One person was killed in a one-sided accident involving a carnival float on Op de Beukel in Meerssen, Limburg on Monday, the police said in a statement. The tractor dragging the float went off the road for unknown reasons.

The accident was reported to the police at around 5:30 p.m. Police officers, the fire brigade, and a number of ambulances were deployed to the scene. First responders tried to resuscitate the driver, but it was to no avail. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Amsterdam saw a 43 percent increase in the number of murder and manslaughter cases last year, as well as a slight rise violent crimes. There was a decrease in most forms of property crimes, with a significant drop in picpocketing and theft from a vehicle, according to figures the Amsterdam municipality and police released on Monday.

A 16-year-old boy from Amsterdam was killed and three other people were injured in a stabbing incident in Alphen aan den Rijn during the early hours of Sunday morning. An 18-year-old man from Alphen aan den Rijn was arrested. 

The police responded to a report of a stabbing in a home on Robijnstraat at around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. The 16-year-old boy fled from the home and was found near it. First responders tried to resuscitate him, but it was to no avail. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene, the police said in a statement.

The number of ATM bombings in the Netherlands increased significantly last year, but in the vast majority of them the perpetrators did not get away with any cash, newspaper AD reports based on figures from the police's internal magazine Blauw.

Last year there were a total of 95 ATM bombings, an increase of 55 percent. In only 16 percent of cases did the perpetrators demonstrably get away with gash. In 68 percent of the cases, the authorities are certain that no money was stolen. In the other cases, the results were unclear.

Authorities near Frankfurt, Germany arrested a Dutch driver after finding 50 thousand ecstasy tablets in his car worth over 350 thousand euros. He was remanded into custody by a magistrate, German police said in a statement issued on Friday.

The arrest happened during a routine patrol of the traffic routes into the Frankfurt area on February 12. Customs inspectors monitoring the area ordered the driver of a Volkswagen Up with Dutch license plates to pull over near a petrol station on Autobahn 3 in Medenbach.

A suspicious letter was found at a company on Schatbeurderlaan in Weert. The police are at the scene to investigate whether the case is another mail bomb in a series of incidents which began last January. The company was evacuated as a precaution, the Limburg police said on Twitter, with authorities on high alert for the incendiary devices, several of which have detonated.

One person was killed and two people were hurt in a stabbing incident at a care institution on Morel in Wageningen on Wednesday night, the Gelderland police said on Twitter. The police are investigating what happened. 

A police spokesperson could not give NOS any information regarding the victims' identities. No arrests were made, according to the broadcaster.

Police in Enkhuizen stopped a burglary suspect after he fell from a rooftop while trying to elude officers early Monday morning. The 33-year-old, also from the Noord-Holland town, was then apprehended on the ground, and taken under guard to an area hospital for treatment.

Authorities were alerted to a suspicious man lurking in the garden of a home on Nassaustraat at about 5 a.m. By the time police arrived the man had fled the scene.

The police arrested a 45-year-old customs officer at home in Rotterdam early on Tuesday morning. She is suspected of corruption and money laundering, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) said in a statement.

The police previously searched the customs officer's home and seized administration, money, and data carriers. Whether information from these data carriers and administration led to her arrest, the OM did not say.

The woman was suspended by her employer a short time before her arrest, the OM said.

Explosives were used on an ATM inside an Albert Heijn grocery store on the Osdorpplein in Amsterdam as part of an attempted robbery early Tuesday morning. Shortly after, two teens were caught in Utrecht, suspected of trying to blast open a cash machine in a Plus supermarket.

Police said the suspects used a stolen Fiat Panda to smash into the Amsterdam West building at about 3 a.m. before attempting to blow the cash machine open. No money was taken, according to a statement from police.

The Tax Authority's investigative department FIOD arrested two men in separate investigations into money laundering using cryptocurrency. Roughly a half-million euros in cryptocurrency, fiat cash, and gold was seized in the two cases, the tax investigation agency FIOD said on Tuesday. 

The suspects, both arrested on Monday, mainly used bitcoin, but other digital currencies were also used, AD reports based on information from the Public Prosecution Service.
