The police released surveillance camera footage of the suspected gunman in a fatal shooting in a restaurant on Beethovenstraat in Amsterdam late last month.
The police broke multiple car windows at the RAI in Amsterdam, where the World Dog Show 2018 is taking place, to rescue overheating dogs. Multiple dog owners were fined 750 euros for leaving their pets in the hot car, ANP reports.
While the heatwave is over in the Netherlands, temperatures in a parked car can still quickly rise to 40 degrees, the police said. This can cause to overheat and even die. Police officers will perform extra checks at the RAI over the weekend to make sure no dogs are left in cars.
A detainee set a matrass on fire in his cell at a police station in Meppel on Thursday afternoon. The smoke set off the fire alarm and police officers had to leave the station on Eendrachtsraat. When the fire brigade arrived, the fire was already extinguished, Dagblad van het Noorden reports.

An Ommen resident had a very unexpected visitor on Wednesday afternoon. An elephant wandered into his garden and started eating his pear tree. The man called the police, and after convincing them that he was not joking, police officers responded to the scene.
"On the way to the address - in the outskirts of Ommen - we wondered how in heavens name we were supposed to catch an elephant. This was a first for us", the Ommen police said on Facebook.
A suspect was arrested in connection with the assassination of infamous Delft criminal Karel Pronk. Pronk was gunned down in broad daylight outside coffee house Het Kalf on Kalverbos in Delft on Tuesday.
A car was seen driving away from Kalverbos after the shooting. The driver of the car, a 28-year-old man from Delft, was arrested on Insulindeweg a short time later. He is in custody for questioning, according to Omroep West.
A motorist tried to hit a enforcement officer in Den Bosch with his car shortly after he was fined for illegal parking. The municipality's enforcement officer managed to get out of the way in time and was not hurt, ANP reports.
The officer "miraculously" managed to jump out of the way just in time as the car came at him at high speed, the police said.
A disruption at telecom provider Tele2 over the weekend turned off hundreds of ankle monitors. The disruption started late on Friday morning. By Sunday morning, all ankle monitors were again connected with the control room, the Ministry of Justice and Security said, RTL Nieuws reports.
The Hague city councilor Willie Dille committed suicide on Wednesday, newspaper AD reports based on sources.
Earlier on Wednesday Dille posted a video on Facebook in which she claimed that she was kidnapped, raped and assaulted by a group of Muslim people on March 15th last year - the day of the municipal elections. The perpetrators wanted her to keep quiet in the city council, Dille said.
The body of Marloes Idzerda was found in a wooded area in Soest on Wednesday after two days of searching. The 44-year-old woman from Amersfoort disappeared on Sunday.
Idzerda was last seen on Sunday. She was reported missing during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Her car was found on Oude Leusderweg in Soest on Sunday.
A man was stabbed to death outside an apartment building in the Elderveld district of Arnhem on Wednesday evening. One suspect was arrested, NOS reports.
The victim died at the scene. The suspect was injured, so he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The circumstances surrounding the stabbing are still unclear. The police closed own the crime scene and are investigating.
The police reprimanded a man in Zandvoort on Tuesday for letting an 11-year-old girl drive a sports motorcycle on the crowded Boulevard Barnaart.
The girl was sitting on the bike between the man and the gas tank as they drove over the boulevard. At one point the girl took over steering the bike, and the man put his hands on her shoulders.
"The girl thereby controlled the 1000 cc sports bike and drove over the busy boulevard in the direction of Bloemendaal", the Zandvoort police said on Facebook. "Both were also only dressed in swimwear and flip-flops."
PVV city councilor in The Hague Willie Dille posted a video on Facebook on Wednesday in which she said that she was gang-raped by Muslims in March last year. The 53-year-old politician looks tired and emaciated in the now-removed video, newspaper AD reports. The PVV released a statement asking that Dillie be left in peace.
Two men found dead in an assisted living home in Tilburg late last month, died as a result of drug abuse, the police announced based on blood tests. The police concluded that the men's deaths were an accident and closed the case, ANP reports.
The two men, aged 33 and 43 years, were found dead in their separate rooms in the assisted living home on Reinevaarstraat on July 28th. Both had a history of drug abuse.
Two men on a stolen speedboat were arrested on the Gooimeer in Amsterdam during the early hours of Monday morning after a chase involving a police boat and a police helicopter, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.
At around 3:30 a.m. on Monday the police received a report that a speedboat was stolen at IJburg and was sailing at high speeds towards Gooimeer. A police boat gave chase, and was soon joined by a police helicopter that happened to be in the area.
A tourist nearly lost a watch worth 150 thousand euros to muggers in Amsterdam on Sunday night. The police arrested two suspects and were able to recover the expensive watch, AT5 reports.
The tourist was in the vicinity of Dam square when he was mugged. The robbers took the watch and fled.
A motorcycle officer spotted one of the suspects shortly afterwards. The suspect resisted arrest and tried to throw the watch away. Fortunately for the victim, the officer saw it happen and the watch was retrieved. The second suspect was arrested after a short search.
The police arrested a second suspect in the murder of Daan Hoefs in Schijndel in April. The 63-year-old man from Schijndel was arrested in Grave on Monday. He is the father of a 29-year-old man arrested two days after the fatal shooting, Omroep Brabant reports.
A 25-year-old man from Amsterdam was injured in a shooting incident at an apartment building on Kleiburg in Amsterdam Zuidoost on Tuesday evening. Two men were arrested.
The shooting happened around 11:00 p.m. The injured man was taken to hospital. A spokesperson for the police could not say how badly he was hurt, Het Parool reports.
An 18-year-old man and a 29-year-old man was arrested in the vicinity of the shooting a short time later. The police are investigating their involvement.
A man was killed in a shooting near a coffee tent on Kalverbos in Delft just before noon on Tuesday. The victim is notorious Delft Criminal Karel Pronk, witnesses told newspaper AD, though the police have not confirmed this.
According to witnesses, between three and five shots were fired at the coffee tent around 11:50 a.m. Emergency services tried to resuscitate the victim on the pavement, but he died. No arrests have been made.

A boy was stabbed during a large fight between young people in the center of Eindhoven on Tuesday evening. He was found wounded at Eindhoven station a short time after the fight and was taken to hospital, the police said on Twitter.

A 46-year-old pilot was caught under the influence of alcohol at Schiphol during the early hours of Sunday morning. While preparing the plane before departure, ground staff noticed that the pilot smelled of alcohol and notified the police, NOS reports.
A breathalyzer test a few hours later showed that the pilot's blood-alcohol level was 0.26. The maximum level allowed for pilots is 0.2 per mille. Aircraft personnel are not allowed to drink any alcohol 10 hours before departure.
