The police in Kenya arrested the wife of the missing former head of Philips in East Africa, Tob Cohen, in connection with his disappearance. Cohen went missing in mid-July. The couple were getting divorced, NOS reports.
Cohen had been living in Kenya for decades. After his disappearance, his wife told the authorities that he went to Thailand to relax. But investigators have been unable to find evidence that the man ever left Kenya. He was reported missing by his sister in the Netherlands, who hasn't heard from him since July 19th.
A man was found dead in his home in Maastricht on Wednesday night. His wife was taken to hospital with unknown injuries, the police said in a statement.
The police responded to the home on Meendal at around 11:00 p.m. after a report that the body of the resident had been found. At the scene responding officers found that the man was indeed dead.
Exactly what happened is not yet clear. The police don't rule out a crime.
The extent of the woman's injuries, and how she sustained them, is also unclear.

A 44-year-old woman from Meppel was arrested on Tuesday morning on suspicion of involvement in the murder of 34-year-old Halil Erol from Steenwijk in 2010, the police said in a statement. Erol disappeared in February 2010. Parts of his body were found later that year and in 2013. The man's head and hands have still not be found.
An investigation into the death of a 32-year-old deaf man in Assen determined that a sex crime took place on the playground where the man died, authorities said on Tuesday. Five men were arrested after reports surfaced that the hearing-impaired gardener named Martin was accused of sexually abusing a four-year-old girl just after 1 p.m. on Saturday.
A man died in a stabbing incident in an apartment complex on Uilebomen in The Hague on Tuesday morning. So far no arrests were made, the Den Haag police said on Twitter. The police are investigating.
The police responded to the apartment complex at around 5:00 a.m., according to Omroep West. A helicopter ambulance was deployed to the scene, but the victim's life could ot be saved.

The police put an end to an illegal party on the Nieuwe Meer in Amsterdam on Sunday. The party was held over multiple boats and had at least 500 attendees, the police said in a statement. Two people were arrested, and a water scooter and sound equipment were seized.
Three people became unwell during the party. "Presumably due to the combination of alcohol and/or drug use and the high temperatures", the police said. They were taken to hospital for examination and treatment.
Legalizing the production and use of cannabis does not lead to an immediate reduction in drug crime, a delegation from the Dutch police concluded after a working visit to Canada, which legalized cannabis in October last year. One of the main reasons for this is that the price of cannabis is much lower on the black market, because criminals do not have to pay taxes, the Volkskrant reports.
The number of incidents involving illegal hand grenades in the Netherlands is growing explosively, according to researchers Marieke Liem and Katharina Krüsselmann from Leiden University. An accident during a car show in Purmerend on Sunday left three men injured. They were spectators at the car show on Newtonstraat when the driver of a BMW M3 lost control of his car and crashed into them. The driver, a 39-year-old man from Purmerend, was arrested, the police said in a statement.
The body of a man, an injured man and dozens of kilograms of amphetamine were found in a home in the Kralingen district in Rotterdam on Sunday afternoon, the police said in a statement. The injured man was arrested and taken to hospital for examination.

The latest attack happened between 11:30 p.m. and midnight on Saturday. A 22-year-old student was cycling between Marijkeweg and Haarweg when she was attacked by three men who wanted to steal her bag. A 75-year-old Dutch man was arrested in Brazil in March for sexually abusing a 2-year-old child. The suspect is a known pedophile who was convicted in Brazil 15 years ago for child sex abuse and sentenced to four years in prion, RTL Nieuws reports.
The suspect lives in the Brazilian city of Fortaleza. He contacted the Dutch embassy for assistance.
A 16-year-old boy suspected of stabbing a 15-year-old girl to death in a Breda home on Monday was remanded to 14 days in custody by the court in Breda during his arraignment on Thursday. The Public Prosecutor suspects the boy of murder or manslaughter, AD reports.
The girl, identified as Megan by local media, was stabbed stabbed in a home on Bilderdijkstraat in Breda, where she lived with her mother. Despite emergency services' attempts to resuscitate her, she died at the scene.
A man tried to blow up his home in Hoensbroek on Thursday night while emergency services were trying to talk him down. It is believed that he opened the gas. The man himself and a police officer were injured.

A man was shot by the police in the center of Assen on Tuesday afternoon, after the police responded to a report of three men walking around with a firearm. The man was hit in the groin and arm, but is in a stable condition, the police said, NOS reports.
Two trains were set on fire at the train station in Haarlem on Monday night. Bottles of combustible material were found on both trains and the police suspect arson.
