A person was found dead after a fire in a 16th floor apartment in a building on Bachlaan in Tilburg on Wednesday night. So far nothing is known about the victim's identity or cause of death, ANP reports.

The fire was reported around 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, and was extinguished around midnight. Firefighters found the body after the fire was extinguished. 

Forensic investigators were only able to start investigating after all the smoke was out of the home. 

The cause of the fire is also still under investigation.

A new law adopted by the Eerste Kamer, the Dutch Senate, on Tuesday allows the Dutch police to hack suspects' devices like smartphones, laptops, security cameras and navigation systems. Previously only the intelligence services had that capability, RTL Nieuws reports. 

A majority consisting of the VVD, PvdA, CDA, ChristenUnie and D66 voted for the law, officially called Computer Crime Act III. GroenLinks, SP, 50Plus, PvdD and PVV voted against. It will be implemented on January 1st next year. The Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, approved the law in December.

The mother of a newborn boy whos in Amsterdam in 2016, was finally identified. The 25-year-old woman from Amsterdam West was arrested on June 13th on suspicion of involvement in her baby's death and hiding his body, the police said in a statement on Wednesday.

A yacht carrying 1,400 kilograms of cocaine was intercepted at the Azores, a group of islands that's an autonomous region of Portugal. The three people on board, a Dutch man, a Brit and a Croatian, were arrested, NOS reports.

The ship, sailing under the banner of the British Virgin Islands, was on its way fro the Caribbean to Europe. It was intercepted south of the island of Faial.

The arrests were a joint action by the British and Portuguese authorities.

The police unions want to oblige Netherlands citizens to register their surveillance cameras with the government. "Discussions with detectives show that it is becoming increasingly important in serious crimes to have footage very quickly", union NPB chairman Jan Struijs said to NOS. "There are a lot of cameras in the Netherlands, but we do not always know where."

The police arrested a 29-year-old man from Rotterdam on Thursday afternoon after he waved a knife around in the Rotterdam city hall. The man was tasered and bitten by a police dog during his arrest, AD reports.

The incident happened around 3:45 p.m. at the main entrance of the city hall on Coolsingel. Witnesses told AD that the man shouted for help and then walked up the building's stairs, where he was stopped by security guards.

The police believe they found the getaway car used in an attack on De Telegraaf building on Basisweg in Amsterdam. The car was found burning in a parking lot on Noordkaperweg in Amsterdam Noord early on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, a loud bang was heard from the parking lot, located close to the 'Volendam-Hengelo' onramp to the A10 highway, around 4:00 a.m. When the police went to investigate, they found a burning Audi. "The detectives assume that the perpetrators fled in this car yesterday", the police said in a statement.

"Much is still unclear, but we are alert and vigilant and the police are doing everything in their power to catch the perpetrator(s)", Rutte said.

The police evacuated multiple cinemas of the Euroscoop in Tilburg on Monday evening after a witness reported seeing a suspicious package at a car parked in the adjacent parking garage. The bomb threat later turned out to be a false alarm, Omroep Brabant reports.

The cinema was evacuated at around 11:45 p.m. The suspicious package was found behind a parked car, and the police's explosive experts were sent in to investigate. During the investigation, movie watchers were kept away from the parking garage.

A van crashed through the front door of the building that houses newspaper De Telegraaf on Basisweg in Amsterdam around 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The vehicle went up in flames, causing a large amount of damage to the building, a spokesperson for the police said to NU.nl. No one was injured.

"The flames came up to 14 meters high out of the van, badly damaging the building. A window in the facade was destroyed by the vehicle, the rest were blown out by the heat of the fire", the police spokesperson said. Firefighters managed to get the fire under control quickly.

An explosive was thrown into a home on Heemskerckstraat in Arnhem during the early hours of Saturday morning. No one was injured. The police are investigating, De Gelderlander reports.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday. Someone broke a window in the home's front door and threw the explosive through it.

A police spokesperson confirmed to the newspaper that an "object was thrown through the window and caused a big bang". There was a lot of smoke, but no fire. The motive for this incident is not yet clear.

The Kanaleneiland police station in Utrecht received hundreds of cards and letters expressing support for a in an apartment building in the city on Thursday. Dozens of bunches of flowers were delivered, and social media is also flooded with messages for the police officer, NOS reports.

Emergency services found a man with multiple stab wounds on a parking lot on Groesbeekdreef in Amsterdam Zuidoost at around 2:45 a.m. on Monday. The man was rushed to hospital after receiving first aid from a trauma doctor, AT5 reports.

The police are investigating at the scene. So far no arrests were made. The victim's current condition is unknown.

The man showed up at a police station and said he was involved in the incident. According to the police, he is "probably the resident" of the apartment in which the explosion happened.

An anti-tank weapon was fired at an office building on Teleportboulevard in Amsterdam on Thursday night. A suspect was arrested during the early hours of Friday morning, the police said in a statement.

The incident happened around 11:00 p.m. The building's windows were knocked out. No one was injured. The anti-tank weapon was found in the area and confiscated.

The most well known type of anti-tank weapon is a rocket launcher. Whether that was what was used here is not clear. 

The police are investigating.

On Sunday evening the police arrested two men, age 22 and 27 years, in the Bloemhof district of Rotterdam. They are suspected of preparing for a terrorist crime and participating in a terrorist organization, the Public Prosecutor announced after their arraignment on Thursday. 

The arrests were made based on information from intelligence and security service AIVD. The suspects' home was searched and phones and data carriers were seized. No weapons or explosives were found.

The police arrested an 18-year-old boy at a school on Van Doornenplantsoen in Zoetermeer on Thursday afternoon. The pupil had a gun with him, RTL Nieuws reports.

Officers responded to the school based on a report that a pupil was armed. This turned out to be true. The suspect was arrested without problems. Why he'd taken a gun to school is not clear.

The arrest was made in the afternoon, but the police only announced it on Thursday evening.

An apartment building on Marshalllaan in Utrecht was rocked by an explosion in one of the apartments on Thursday evening. The police later found a body in the apartment. A police officer was seriously injured, the police said on Twitter.

The explosion happened on the first floor of the apartment building, according to NU.nl. Fire broke out in several apartments. One home in the building burned out completely.

A 19-year-old from Zeeland was arrested for breaking into the iCloud accounts of girls and young women and stealing their nude photos. How many girls fell victim to this man, is not yet clear, RTL Nieuws reports.

The victims come from the suspect's environment. He followed their social media profiles, and collected information about their private lives, like their pet names. He used that information to answer security questions when he tried to log into their iCloud accounts. The man also sent fake emails to victims to get their passwords.

The Dutch, Australian and Philippine police together rescued 18 children from sexual abuse situations on an online network. The children were offered online for abuse, mostly by family members. The youngest victim is five months old, the Dutch police said in a statement on Thursday.

People who logged into the network could order the abuse they wanted to see. Through chat conversations, they described what they wanted done to the child, agreed on a price, and then watched the abuse directly via webcam.

On Tuesday evening the fire department rescued a 9-year-old boy from the roof of a building on Baron G.A. Tindaplein in Amsterdam. The kid climbed onto the roof "like some kind of Spiderman", but couldn't make his own way down, the Amsterdam Oost Zeeburg police said on Facebook. 

According to the police, the boy climbed to the roof using windowsills around 9:00 p.m. Why exactly the young daredevil did so, is not clear.

The fire department eventually rescued the boy with a ladder truck. He was home just before dark, the police said.
