Amber Alert, the Dutch organization that handles missing children cases, will be the secretariat of this network, called PEN-MP, NOS reports.

A 39-year-old truck driver from Romania was arrested after 25 stowaways were found hiding in the refrigerated container of his truck on board a ferry to England on Tuesday. He is in custody on suspicion of human trafficking while the police investigate whether he was aware of the people hiding in his truck, a police spokesperson said to NU.nl.

Police detained two persons of interest connected to the murder of criminal defense attorney Derk Wiersum. The arrests were announced on television show Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday night.

The duo were taken into custody for their possible roles in fencing a stolen vehicle allegedly used to monitor Wiersum shortly before he was killed. They were questioned and released, police said.

A tense standoff involving a possibly armed man barricaded inside a building in Nijmegen ended early Tuesday evening with the suspect's arrest. The man threatened to "shoot people in the neighborhood," a police spokesperson told de Gelderlander.

Officers were dispatched to the scene just before 4 p.m., as well as a heavily-armed tactical unit. "Police have received a report about a man threatening violence in an office building in the center," authorities said in a statement.

A DNA sample given by a son helped the police finally identify a man whose body washed ashore on Terschelling in 1953. The man was identified Andries Penning, captain of seafaring ship Westland, the police said in a statement on Monday.

The Westland sunk with seven people onboard on the night of the 1953 North Sea flood, en route from Germany to England. Penning's body washed ashore on Terschelling three months later. He was buried in grave O-2 on Terschelling as an unidentified person.

All 11 members of radical nationalist group Pegida arrested during the national Sinterklaas arrival party in Apeldoorn on Saturday, have been released from custody, the police announced on Sunday. The Pegida demonstrators, dressed as blackface Zwarte Piet, were arrested for refusing to follow police orders. The other Sinterklaas arrival parties throughout the Netherlands happened largely without major incident.

Two people were arrested this week after police discovered some 1,780 kilograms of illegal fireworks kept in a home and a storage space. The arrests were made after Wednesday morning raids in Bleiswijk and Nootdorp, Zuid-Holland.

An anonymous tip led police to the dealer’s home in Bleiswijk, police said. They kept the suspect under surveillance, building up evidence of the illicit handling of explosives.

A 13-year-old girl who disappeared in The Hague on Wednesday, was found in good health, the police said on Twitter at around 1:00 p.m. on Friday. "We want to thank everyone for thinking and searching along", the police said.

Goiia's father is delighted and also wants to thank everyone who helped look for his daughter. "Thank you, thank you", he said to RTL Nieuws. "I was just called by a police officer, I am so happy, I am so relieved."

A man arrested at Eindhoven train station on Thursday night is a 24-year-old resident of Dordrecht. He is suspected of involvement in a shooting in his hometown, in which a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured on October 18th, Eindhovens Dagblad reports.

The Dutch government is allocating 30 million euros for the purchase of electric shock weapons for the police. Equipping cops with tasers has been high on the police's wish list for some time, and they are now getting their way, RTL Nieuws reports.

Around 17 thousand police officers who may find themselves in a situation in which they have to defend themselves against violence will be equipped with a taser. Part of the 30 million euros will go towards purchasing these weapons, and part will go towards training police officers how to handle and use them.

The police are urgently looking for 13-year-old Goiia. The girl disappeared in The Hague on Wednesday, when cycling home from school. A missing child alert was issued by the police. 

Goiia left the St. Maartenscollege in Voorburg at 2:10 p.m. on her bicycle with a friend. The two cycled together until they reached Laakkade in The Hague. There they said goodbye to each other and cycled in different directions. That was the last time Goiia was seen.

Police in Eindhoven on Thursday evening sent a team of heavily armed and masked officers into a packed and busy train as part of a search for suspect. Authorities were vague about the person of interest, saying only that it concerned an incident in Rotterdam, according to Omroep Brabant.

"We have just been able to arrest a person," police said just before 7:15 p.m. The arrest was made at the request of another division, the Oost Brabant division of the police noted.

A man found dying of a gunshot wound in a car on Buitensingel in Amsterdam-Duivendrecht on October 1st, had a toddler in the car with him, the police announced on Thursday. The toddler was the victim's child and was unharmed in the shooting that killed the father, 34-year-old Seif Ahmed.

Ahmed was found motionless in the car at around 5:15 p.m. on October 1st. First responders discovered he had a gunshot wound. They tried to resuscitate him, but it was to no avail. He died at the scene.

The police tackled what they call a "criminal family network" in Oss, Noord-Brabant on Wednesday. Three men, believed to be the leaders of this criminal network, were arrested. During searches at a caravan camp and other places in Oss, the police found and confiscated automatic firearms, drugs and cash. Possible explosives were also found.

A 48-year-old woman who was shot by police officers near a primary school in Alkmaar on Wednesday, succumbed to her injuries, the Public Prosecutor said on Thursday. She was shot after she refused to follow police orders, according to the police.

The police responded to Piemstraat on Wednesday morning after multiple reports of the woman committing vandalism on the street. Responding officers ordered her to stop, but she did not listen, a police spokesperson said to NH Nieuws. The officers shot at the woman when she came at them with a knife, according to the regional broadcaster.

A total of 476 of these accidents proved fatal, and people were injured in nearly 16 thousand accidents, reports RTL Nieuws. The broadcaster conducted its own analysis of police and Rijkswaterstaat data of over 250 thousand road accidents in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The number of reports of child pornography in the Netherlands increased by tenfold in the past five years. In 2014, the police received some 3 thousand reports, this year there were 30 thousand, according to a study by Bureau Beke, NU.nl reports.

The researchers attribute the massive increase to the fact that companies like Google, Facebook and Microsoft are now required to report if they come across potentially child pornographic material.

Three 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of assaulting and robbing a 47-year-old man in Bilthoven on August 19th. The victim went to the scene because of a date he made through dating app Grindr. 

The man, from Soest, met his date at a parking lot in Bilthoven as agreed through the app. The two walked into the forest on Dwarspad, where five other young men were waiting for them. .

Student associations in Leiden are warning their members to not go out alone at night after multiple students reported being sexually harassed or assaulted in the city center. The police received multiple reports of incidents, a police spokesperson confirmed to AD.
