The police arrested a 68-year-old man in Noord-Brabant on suspicion of selling fake hospital bills in Thailand, the Dutch Public Prosecutor announced on Wednesday. The Prosecutor believes that the fraud committed with these fake invoices amounts to nearly 130 thousand euros, ANP reports.

The suspect sold fake hospital bills to Dutch tourists visiting Thailand. The bills shows charges for admittance to a hospital in Bangkok. When returning to the Netherlands, the Dutch tourists then submitted the bills to their health insurers for compensation.

About 2 thousand piglets and sows were killed in a fire on a pig farm just outside the Noord-Brabant village of Mill on Wednesday night. Two barns containing the 2 thousand pigs were completely destroyed in the fire, Omroep Brabant reports.

Another barn could be rescued by the fire brigade. The pigs inside were evacuated and taken to a fourth barn. According to the Gelderlander, the farm owned a total of 600 sows and 2,200 pigs. 

The fire was under control around midnight. Multiple fire brigades responded to deal with the fire. The cause of the fire is unclear.

A ship carrying hazardous substances including benzene crashed into te John. S. Thompson Bridge over the Maas river in Grave, Noord-Brabant on Thursday night. The environment and residents of Grave are in no direct danger due to the collision, a spokesperson for the local safety office Veiligheidsregio Gelderland-Zuid said to NU.nl.

According to the police, the ship collided with a pillar of the bridge on the N324 in Grave and Nederasselt. This was likely caused by reduced visibility due to thick fog.

The police are investigating a possible hostage situation in Best, Noord-Brabant. Two suspects, men aged 24 and 25 years from Valkenswaard, were arrested on Tuesday, the Telegraaf reports.

The investigation was triggered by a wounded man showing up at a police station on Tuesday afternoon. He told the police that he was held against his will, according to newspaper AD. He was treated for his injuries, though the police would not say what the nature of those injuries were.

Rain over the past weeks already left the area with flooded streets and tunnels. And so far the weather shows little chance of changing - the KNMI predicts a 70 - 80 percent chance of rain every day until the weekend.
