Two people were injured in a large fire in a warehouse behind a house on Korte Bunder in Hoeven, Noord-Brabant during the early hours of Thursday morning. Several explosions were heard in the warehouse. The wounded persons were taken to hospital for treatment, ANP reports.

The fire started shortly after midnight. The explosions heard were caused by items stored in the warehouse.

The icy weather currently in the Netherlands means that skating enthusiasts can enjoy the natural ice at numerous ice skating clubs throughout the country. One skating enthusiast used a drone to film a beautiful video of skaters enjoying the natural ice rink of skating club De Vennen in Noord-Brabant. 

"We have five centimeters of ice", Jan van de Wiel of De Vennen said to Omroep Brabant. "It is beautiful for natural ice. The free nature. Enjoy the sun rising. The outside air and the wind. You have to overcome all these factors on natural ice."

Crime in Amsterdam fell by 5 percent in 2017 compared to the year before. There were fewer cases of pickpockets, muggings, and violent threats, but the number of home burglaries and robberies increased. Nationwide crime is steadily declining,  according to figures the National Police will publish on Thursday, the Volkskrant reports.

A six-month-old baby girl kidnapped in front of a grocery store on Monday morning was rescued by police just over the border on Monday evening. Authorities arrested the girl's biological parents, who were with baby Hannah when they were found together at a holiday park in Germany around 8 p.m., police revealed.

All three were still in Germany while their case was processed, police said. The Netherlands will request extradition.

A baby was abducted outside a Lidl supermarket on Nieuwstraat in the Noord-Brabant town of Eersel on Monday morning. The child was forcibly taken, a police spokesperson confirmed to Omroep Brabant.

Bystanders told the broadcaster that a woman carrying a child in a Maxi Cosi walked out of the supermarket towards the parking lot when a man came up, grabbed the Maxi Cosi and child from her arms and left in a car.

The average wealth of Dutch households increased by almost 10 percent in 2016, Statistics Netherlands reported on Wednesday based on new figures. This is mainly due to increasing house prices. Dutch without their own home did not see a wealth increase in that year, according to the stats office.

Nearly three in five households owned their home in 2016. An owned home formed the largest part of household's assets at 57 percent, followed by savings. Mortgage was also the largest debt item of Dutch households that year, making up 86 percent of the average household's debt.

Two adult ponies were found wandering around the Noord-Brabant town of Maaskantje during the early hours of Monday morning. They were taken in by animal ambulance Brabant Noordoost, who posted their photos on Facebook in an attempt to find the owner.

"They are adult ponies and their health is good", Wim van de Pol of the animal ambulance said to Omroep Brabant. "They walked in the middle of the street in the town of 't Maaskantje in the night from Sunday to Monday. A lady was able to lead them to her garden and we picked them up there."

A school bus carrying around 10 children between the ages of 10 and 15 crashed into a tree during stormy weather in Gravenmoer, Noord-Brabant on Thursday. Five children and the bus driver were injured, AD reports.

The extent of the kids' injuries is unclear. The bus driver was seriously injured, according to the newspaper. The bus was transporting kids to a school in Andel.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

For the first time in years, the number of burglaries in the Netherlands increased in 2016. Last year a total of 64 thousand burglary claims were filed with insurers, compared to 61 thousand in 2015, according to figures from the Dutch association of insurers VNV, ANP reports.

At least two men were killed in a fishing boat accident near the former work island of Neeltje Jans in Zeeland. A third man is still missing. The search for the man was stopped on Sunday night when it became too dark to continue. The police will resume the search on Monday morning, ANP reports.

The police are looking for a 47-year-old man from Boxtel, who is suspected of stealing some 500 thousand euros by hacking into a Belgian company's email account, the police said in a statement on Wednesday. The man is on the run. On Wednesday the police searched his home, and the homes of his family members in Boxtel. Data carriers, computers and admin were seized.

Some 40 cows escaped from their pasture on Friday morning and spent a few happy hours roaming around the Noord-Brabant town of Bladel, near the border with Belgium.

The police received the first report of the escaped cows around 5:00 a.m. on Friday, according to NU.nl.

The police and municipality both placed calls on their social media pages, looking for experienced farmers to help capture the animals. The cows were finally rounded up near the center of Bladel and near Hulsel. They were loaded into a trailer and returned to their pasture.

A 75-year-old man from Tilburg was arrested on Friday in Nepal on suspicion of criminal acts connected to pedophilia. Police in the Netherlands arrested a 46-year-old man at his house in Zuid-Holland in connection with the case, the public prosecutor said in a statement.

Another man in Amsterdam was believed to be in custody, children's rights organization Terres des Hommes told Het Parool. Prosecutors would only confirm that the Zuid-Holland home and other properties in the south of the Netherlands were searched by investigators.

Police arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a young woman from a train station in Eindhoven. A 31-year-old Alkmaar man was taken into custody on October 26, which police made public on Friday. A 45-year-old was also in custody according to police.

The victim was abducted and pulled into a car by two men in the early morning hours of May 27. She was then kept captive for hours in a house in Son en Breugel, where police say she was raped. When she was released hours later, she immediately called authorities, according to a police report.

A police training session has prompted an internal investigation after live ammunition suddenly exploded when a bullet cartridge was removed from a weapon. The incident sent shrapnel from the cartridge into a police officer's protective equipment, though there were no injuries.

The accident happened last week as an Amsterdam tactical unit was training in Ossendrecht, Noord-Brabant. The explosion took place when a clip fell to the ground, police confirmed to both nu.nl and newspaper AD.

An 18-year-old man from the Noord-Brabant town of Langenboom was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl from te same town, the police said in a statement. "What exactly happened, the police don't know yet. The sex crime department is investigating the case", the police said.

Several local residents told newspaper AD that the sexual assault happened at local football club SES Langenboom on Dennendijk. The girl was playing on the terrain of the club when the young man attacked her.

A 33-year-old man from Den Bosch was killed in a shooting at Beachclub Sunrise in Best, Noord-Brabant, on Sunday night. A 34-year-old man from the same hometown sustained minor injuries. The police are investigating what happened, AD reports.

The shooting happened around 11:45 p.m. in the club's parking lot on Ekkersweijer, while a dance party was happening inside. Many people heard the shooting and went outside to see what happened. The police are speaking to witnesses.
